24.11.08 – NEW TOWN, NORTH DAKOTA — In front of a standing room only crowd at the 4 Bears Casino & Lodge, three of CES’ rising stars, Matt Godfrey, Aaron Williams and Hank Lundy all put on impressive performances in securing victories on Saturday night. Godfrey, the reigning NABF cruiserweight champion, added the brand new Sovereign Nations Boxing Council cruiserweight crown to his resume with an impressive shut-out performance over tough Eddie Gutierrez. Providence’s Godfrey put on an impressive display of speed in scoring the unanimous decision win over Gutierrez by scores of 100-90 twice and 99-91..
The win raised Godfrey’s record to 18-1, 10 KO’s. Gutierrez falls to 15-6-1, 6 KO’s.
CES’ other rising cruiserweight star Aaron Williams turned in the nights most impressive performance as he waged an all-out war with fellow prospect David Williams. Both fighters put on an impressive display until the seventh round when Aaron was able to catch David on the way in and score an impressive knockout win.
Williams, now 19-1-1, 13 KO’s, scored his second win in a row since his shocking upset defeat at the hands of Jose Luis Herrera this past May. Philadelphia’s David Williams fell to 5-2-1, 2 KO’s.
Following the nights festivities, Aaron Williams was awarded a bonus as “Fighter of the Night.”
Rising lightweight prospect Hank Lundy kicked the night off for CES when he scored a very impressive unanimous six round decision over two-time Ghana national champion, and two-time world title challenger, Ben Odamattey. The win raised Lundy’s mark to 12-0-1, 6 KO’s while the very game Odamattey fell to 13-12-2, 5 KO’s.
“This was a big night for CES,” said CES President Jimmy Burchfield. “Our CES fighters were all in real fights and they all passed their tests with flying colors in front of a huge crowd here in North Dakota. Working with 4 Bears has been great and I look forward to working with them in the future.”

Danny Swift Garcia Remains Undefeated
Golden Boy Promotions undefeated rising star, Danny “Swift” Garcia, improves to (9-0, 7 KO’s) as he dominated a lopsided contest against Adan Hernandez (14-6), while going the distance for the second time in his career.
Garcia utilized his superior boxing skills and punching power to take an early lead as he dropped Hernandez with a beautiful left hook that landed flush on the temple. As the bout continued, the jr. welterweight sensation continued to come forward, landing crisp combinations scoring at will. In the sixth and final round, Garcia nearly ended the contest by landing a barrage of power shots to the head and body. Both fighters were deducted one point for unintentional low blows and the score cards read, 59-52 across the board, all in favor of Garcia.
Garcia who hails from the touch streets of Philadelphia commented by saying, “Hernandez was a good test for me. As a fighter coming up, you learn more by fighting stiff competition. I thought I sat on my punches and boxed well. I’m looking forward to my next fight.”

MANNY ROMAN WINS BIG ON FRIDAY NIGHT, LOOKS TOWARDS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SHOWDOWN WITH BRIAN VILORIA
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 22, 2008) Friday night in front of a sold out crowd of 1,100 at the Quiet Cannon Country Club in Montebello, flyweight contender Manny Roman overcame a first round knockdown to work towards an eight round unanimous decision win over Jose Luis Cardenas by scores of 77-74 twice and 76-75.
“ Cardenas was tough throughout the whole fight. In the later rounds I thought I might be able to finish him, but he proved too tough for that.. It was a good shot he hit me with in the first that knocked me down but I was able to control the tempo from that point on” said Roman who stayed undefeated and improved his record to 14-0-1 (5KO’s). The bout was a rematch of a four round decision win by
Roman in April 2006.
With the win, the 20 year old Roman is looking toward a Southern California showdown with former world champion Brian Viloria.
“That’s the fight we want” said manager Frank Espinoza. “I really liked what I saw from Manny in this fight .We’ve talked about him being more aggressive and using tighter combinations and I saw a lot of that tonight.”
Continued Espinoza, “I’d like to make the fight with Viloria, he’s a former world champion with more ring experience that Manny, but I think we’re ready. It would be a terrific fight in Southern California early next year.”
Roman is currently worked ranked #9 in the World Boxing Council rankings.
