Indianapolis, IN – Tickets for “Relentless” Lamon Brewster’s homecoming fight in Indianapolis are now on sale and priced to move. The former WBO heavyweight champion, (34-4, 30 KO) will be competing in front of his home crowd for the first time since his amateur days. “The Homecoming”, promoted by Relentless Events and C’Believe, will take place November 29 at the Conseco Fieldhouse. “I wanted to make the tickets affordable because we’re living in tough economic times,” Brewster says..
“There’s so much stress on the country and people don’t want to spend a lot of money for a night out. What I wanted to do in my first fight at home is make this a celebration where everybody can enjoy themselves stress-free. I brought a very good card together and I hope Indiana comes out to support it.”
Brewster will not be facing a pushover, however. His opponent Bruce Seldon is also a former heavyweight champion. Seldon, who won the WBA heavyweight crown with a knockout of Tony Tucker, brings an imposing record of 38-7 with 34 knockouts to the table and has gone to battle with six heavyweight champions in his accomplished career.
With trainer Shadeed Suluki back in his corner Brewster feels reinvigorated and ready to make an impression in Indianapolis. “I want to inspire the kids around the city and show them that they can achieve their dreams because I have. They get to see the warrior that came from the same city as them who became heavyweight champion of the world.”
The fight is scheduled for twelve rounds with the North American Boxing Association Heavyweight title at stake.
In the co-main event, two-time heavyweight title challenger “Fast” Fres Oquendo of Chicago will face tough contender Zuri Lawrence of Poughkeepsie, NY for the WBC Latino heavyweight title. Oquendo, (29-4, 18 KOs) is looking to extend his winning streak to four since dropping a controversial decision to the legendary Evander Holyfield in 2006. Oquendo has scored impressive knockout wins over Clifford Etienne, David Izon and Maurice Harris. Lawrence, (24-14-4) has pulled off upset wins over Jameel McCline and Paolo Vidoz and is coming off a dominant victory against 43-1 Albert Sosnowski.
Former light-heavyweight title challenger George “Honey Boy” Blades of Indianapolis will be in action against an opponent to be named. Blades, (21-4, 15 KO) challenged for the WBO light-heavyweight title last year, giving Zsolt Erdei all he could handle in his native Hungary for 11 rounds. His road back to the top begins at home in a six-round contest.
Rugged contender Danny Batchelder, (25-6-1, 12 KO) of Saratoga, NY will face the globe-trotting warrior Otis Tisdale, (25-22-1, 15 KO) of Charlotte, NC in a six-round heavyweight attraction. Batchelder is trained by former world champion Roger Mayweather.
Hometown heavyweight prospect Franklin “Ya-Ya” Lawrence, (10-1-2, 5 KO) looks to move himself closer to title contention with a win over Cruz “El Toro” Quintana of Kearney, NE.
Local heavyweight favorite Enrique “Yaqui” Ruiz, (20-4, 16 KO) will also be in action in a four-round contest. More bouts and a musical act will be announced shortly.

Bell vs. Haskins Bill Features Rock Solid Lineup
Promoter Frank Maloney returns to Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England tonight, Friday, November 7, with an evening of competitive fights, featuring the best young talent fighting out of the UK today.
British super flyweight champion Andy Bell, 11-3 (3), faces his toughest test to date in the form of ex-Commonwealth flyweight titlist Lee Haskins, 17-2 (9), who has never lost while fighting below the bantamweight division. Bell has won seven straight, including the intense firefight against Chris Edwards eight months ago to win the British belt, but has yet to meet an opponent as crafty and experienced as Haskins, who must win at Robin Park if he is to realize ambitions to compete at European level.
Featherweight Akaash Bhatia, 12-0 (3), participates in his first title bout, a scheduled ten rounder against former English super bantam kingpin Marc Callaghan, 19-14-1 (4), for the vacant British southern area crown. After having faced super feather and lightweight opponents so far in his career, Bhatia gets a rare opportunity to box in his natural weight class but can’t afford to let Callaghan, who has faced top men from super bantam to featherweight, gain confidence and become a factor in the contest.
Welter Mark Thompson, 17-1 (10), continues the busy schedule that has seen him fight six times in 2006 and on five occasions in 2007 by taking part in his fifth bout of this year when he meets hard-nosed Scotsman Craig Dickson, 15-5-1 (8), who challenged countryman Kevin Anderson for the Commonwealth title in 2006. Thompson has stopped four of his last six opponents and will be looking to make a statement in what could be his last action of 2008.
Sharp-boxing light middle Thomas McDonagh, 32-1-3 (6), takes on battle hardened veteran Michael Monaghan, 17-23 (2), who has fought as a super middle, light heavy and even cruiserweight over the last two years and could pose problems to the career 154 pounder from Manchester. McDonagh holds wins over Bradley Pryce, Eugenio Monteiro, Marcus Portman, Marcus Concepcion and Jason Rushton but must avoid engagements and box Monaghan if he is to keep on track for a British title shot.
English super bantam champ Mark Moran, 10-0-1 (3), is coming off a thrilling stoppage of Danny Wallace but gets rewarded with a dangerous non-title assignment in the form of lightweight Youssef Al Hamidi, 4-11-1 (1). At 135 pounds or below, Hamidi has gone 4-6 and his five decision losses have been by a total margin of seven points to such quality operators as Michael Hunter, John Simpson, Ricky Burns, Akaash Bhatia and Lee Cook. 26 year old southpaw Moran has never boxed above 128 pounds and will be tested by Syrian national Hamidi.
Light heavyweight Tony Quigley, 11-1 (4), brings a four bout winning streak to his contest with teak-tough opponent Nathan King, 12-11 (1), and cannot afford to make a misstep against the Welshman, Joe Calzaghe’s main sparring partner, who has never been stopped in a professional fight.
Middleweight Martin Murray, 9-0 (3), lightweight Scott Quigg, 9-0 (5), light welter Karl Place, 1-0 (1), and super flyweight Paul Edwards, 1-0 (0), all see action while cruiserweight John Lewis Dickinson and light welter Peter Jones both make their professional debut.

All participants for Friday’s Star Boxing show at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ weighed in today for their upcoming bouts. The card is headlined by WBA #5 rated heavyweight, undefeated Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson taking on Matthew Greer. Johnson weighed in at a fit and ready 243 3/4 lbs. while his opponent Matthew Greer tipped the scales at 238 1/4 lbs.
The co-feature bout of the evening features an interesting welterweight showdown between contenders Terrance “Heat” Cauthen and Shamone “The Truth” Alvarez. Cauthen weighed in at a ripped 146 3/4 lbs. while Alvarez weighed 148 lbs.
