Unbeaten Burgos returns on July 25th; New Foe for Camarena

ORANGE, July 17 – There comes a time in every young fighter’s career when he must step up and prove whether he can sink or swim against experienced opposition that would like nothing better than to pin the first loss on a prospect’s record..

On Friday, July 25, at Omega Products International in Corona, California, that time has come for unbeaten featherweight Juan Carlos Burgos, who will take on 24-fight veteran Andres Ledesma in an eight round clash that will headline Thompson Boxing Promotions’ latest ‘Path to Glory’ show.

Tickets to ‘Path to Glory’, a six bout card of world-class professional boxing, are priced at $75, $45 and $30 and may be purchased by calling 714-935-0900. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the first bell is at 7:45 pm. Omega Products International is located at 1681 California Ave., in Corona.

The hard-hitting nephew of former world flyweight champion Victor Burgos, Juan Carlos Burgos (18-0, 14 KOs), is making his own name in the boxing business with a two-fisted attack that has fight-game insiders drooling over his potential. The WBC Continental Americas featherweight champion, Burgos, who most recently defeated Rafael Urias over ten rounds in April, is closing in on the elite of the featherweight division with each passing victory. In Colombia’s Andres Ledesma, (14-9-1, 9 KOs), he will not only be facing a seasoned battler with knockout power, but one who issued highly-touted Gary Stark Jr. his first pro loss via knockout in May of 2007, making him the toughest test yet for the 20-year old Burgos.

Returning to the ring on July 25th will be Riverside middleweight Ivan Stovall (9-2, 6 KOs), a decorated United States amateur who competed in the 2004 Olympic trials and was a finalist in the Everlast US Championships. He is looking to bounce back from a controversial loss to unbeaten James Parison last October. Stovall’s opponent will be named shortly.

In a six round junior welterweight battle, unbeaten Riverside prospect Hector Serrano (7-0, 3 KOs) puts his perfect record on the line against Las Vegas’ Lester Belmores (4-8-1, 1 KO).

Also in action, bantamweight knockout artist Felipe Orcuta (11-0, 10 KOs) hopes to score his eighth consecutive KO at the expense of LA’s Alvaro Muro (5-9, 5 KOs)

Rounding out this hard-hitting night of action will be a four round super bantamweight bout between debuting Walter Sarnoi and 1-0 Jesus Adame, and a junior middleweight four rounder pitting 4-0 (2 KOs) Mauricio Herrera against an opponent to be determined.

New Foe for Camarena

Molina steps in, replaces Mora

DENVER (IB-July 17, 2008) – It only got better for ESPN and boxing fans, Mexican fighter Carlos Molina steps in for the challenge and takes on Donald Camarena on the August 8th ESPN boxing show.

It was Molina that entered a blemish on the record of Julio Cesar
Chavez Jr. by battling Chavez to a draw, and then in a rematch in Las Vegas (First fight was held in Mexico), Chavez could only muster up a majority win. Molina also fought another Top Rank, Inc. prospect Mike Alvarado in which Alvarado had to rally and come back in the contest in order to win a majority decision. Molina is one tough hombre and his heart cannot be questioned as he steps in to fight another contender in Camarena.

Camarena was originally scheduled to fight Adrian Mora but a replacement had to be found when Mora pulled out of the contest.

“These are the fights I need, these are the fights I want so the next time I step in the ring with a Paulie (Malignaggi) or Timothy Bradley) or any world champion, I won’t have any second thoughts.” Said Camarena

Camarena brings experience to the ring and while Molina has fought Chavez Jr. and Mike Alvarado, it doesn’t compare to contests Camarena has had. Camarena has fought the likes of Former champion Lupe Gutierrez, James Crayton, Marteze Logan, Jorge Padilla, Oscar Leon, and world rated Herman Ngoudjo not to mention world champions Paulie Malignnagi, Timothy Bradley.

Molina is the type of fighter that comes to knock your head off its shoulders and he’s capable. You don’t see today’s so called contenders calling his name but these are the type of fights Camarena wants.

“As I’ve said before, if you want to be a world champion you have to fight quality opponents. You can’t get to be a world champion by taking the “walk in the park” fights to build up a record.” Said Aurelio Martinez, Camarena’s trainer

You see it all the time, a fighter with a clean record fails miserable when confronted against a fighter with skill experience. Although Camarena has a few losses on his record, he is better prepared to battle the world champions than most top rated fighters and plans to prove this come August 8th.

“Teddy (Atlas) have your scorecard ready for we’re coming to impress with outstanding performances against the best!” Team Camarena

The contest will be part of ESPN’s August 8th telecast from the Aragon Ballroom, Chicago. The event is being promoted by Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions/A Team, the main event will pair light heavyweights Tavoris Cloud (18-0 17ko’s) against Julio Cesar Gonzalez (41-5 25ko’s).
