“I’ll Knock Her Block Off!” Mary McGee – April 19 at Majestic Star Casino

April 7 (Merrillville, IN)- Introduced in 1965, “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots” has become a pop culture phenomenon. Introduced in 1986, 21-year-old “Merciless” Mary McGee (13-0, 7 KOs) has become a phenomenon of her own in Northwest Indiana. Using “steel crunching hooks” and “pile driving jabs,” McGee says that when she faces her opponent in the main event of the “Majestic Rumble” on Saturday, April 19th, she will “Knock Her Block Off!.”

McGee, the NABC light welterweight champion and the Steel City’s only female boxing champion, faces her most experienced opponent to date in Renee Richardt- Douglas (11-5-1, 4 KOs) of Fenton, Missouri. Presented by Octavius James’ One In A Million Inc., the ladies are featured in the main event of this five-bout card at the Majestic Star Hotel and Casino in Gary, Indiana.

Majestic Star’s beautifully appointed entertainment pavilion provides the perfect, intimate setting for Vegas style boxing action making every fan feel like they’re sitting VIP ringside in Sin City. Less than 300 tickets went on sale to the public and limited tickets, priced at $100 VIP, $50 ringside and $30 general admission, remain available from any Ticket Master location at (312/559-1212), (219/791-1234) or www.TicketMaster.com.

If the ladies don’t knock each other’s block off, One In A Million’s resident heavyweight Michael Parker is certainly capable of taking his opponent out with one, big crowd pleasing punch. In the evening’s co-main event, Parker faces 21-year-old Rayvon Wilson of Wisconsin.

Since turning professional just six months ago, Hobart native Ed Ochoa (3-0 3 KOs) has stepped in to the squared circle three times and won each bout by definitive, crowd pleasing knock out. As his KO streak multiplies, so does his fan base. On April 19, Ochoa looks to give his fans what they want by delivering another exciting win over four rounds or less in a welterweight bout against an opponent to be named.

Light heavyweight Jimmy Perez Jr. (2-1, 1 KO) returns to the scene of the crime in a confidence builder. Just four months ago, Perez suffered a shocking loss blamed on simple inexperience. Perhaps Perez learned the phrase “Protect yourself at all times” the hard way. A Hammond native, Jimmy faces Harold Gaddy who is making his pro debut.

One In A Million’s exciting new welterweight prospect, Marcus Thompson (1-0) of Michigan City, returns after winning his professional debut in November on One In A Million’s “Showdown” card. Thompson, who had an amateur record of about 44-6, showed real skill and potential in his debut and looks to build on that experience with another win against Channel Buckanan in Buckanan’s pro debut.

Rounding out the card, Oswaldo Lopez of Michiocan, Mexico will make his professional debut at super featherweight against Bobby Conners, also making his pro debut.

Majestic Star Casino is located at One Buffington Harbor in Gary, IN.
Doors to this event open at 7 p.m. First bout at 8 p.m.
