Matthew Hurley: Late replacement Michael Walker, 18-0-2 with 12 KOs managed a majority draw against Antwon Echols, 31-7-4 with 27 KOs in Marksville, Louisiana in a super middleweight contest on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights (FNF). Walker came into the fight after Allen Green pulled out with no explanation at the last minute. Green is now facing a possible suspension for his withdrawal. The final scores for the bout were 98-92 for Echols while the other two judges had it 95-95..

In a rematch of a rather controversial stoppage back in October, heavyweight Travis Walker, 27-1 with 21 KOs scored a second round technical knockout over T J Wilson, 12-2 with 8 KOs. In their first bout Wilson scored a first round stoppage after only fifteen seconds when the referee called a halt to the bout.

On the under card of FNF junior middleweight Sechew Powel, 23-1 with 14 KOs scored a first round technical knockout over Kevin Finley, 12-1-1 with 9 KOs. Powell knocked Finely down twice before the stoppage.

Former bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez, 36-6 with 30 KOs registered a second round technical knockout over Giovanni Urbina, 7-16 with 2 KOs in Chihuahua, Mexico at the Quevedo Gymnasio.

Dimitri Kirilov, 29-3-1 with 9 KOs earned a twelve round majority draw against Cecilio Santos, 22-8-3 with 12 KOs to retain his IBF junior bantamweight title at the Roseland Ballroom this past Thursday night. Two judges scored the bout 114-114 while the third judge’s card read 116-112 for Kirilov.

On the same card, promising welterweight Dimitry Salita, 28-0-1 with 16 KOs knocked out Fabian Luque, 21-7-4 with 12 KOs in the fifth round of a scheduled ten round bout.

Finally, Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero, 22-1-1 with 15 KOs looked extremely impressive in scoring a vicious eighth round knockout over Jason Litzau, 23-2 with 19 KOs in Lemoor, California. After the fight Guerrero expressed his desire to next fight the winner of tonight’s Israel Vazquez – Rafael Marquez rubber match.

“There are a lot of big fights out there for me. If the winner of Vazquez – Marquez wants to move up, I would fight either of them. I’m ready to fight now.”
