Star Boxing Inks Two Sizzling Hot Prospects

Bronx, NY – Feb 07, 2008 – Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, has inked multi fight deals with two promising prospects. Highly thought of Light Heavyweight YaThomas Riley who won the National PAL and the Golden Gloves Championships in 2006 is turning pro after a stellar amateur career..

After a chance meeting with his boxing idol former IBF World Champion Glen Johnson. Riley was invited to spar with Johnson for his fight against Hugo Pineda, and has been a part of team Johnson ever since.

“When I saw him in the ring I knew he was special, he has one of the most powerful punches I have ever seen or felt, his skill level is incredible, I believe Riley has what it takes to be a champion”. said Johnson.

The 25-year-old 6′ 1″ lanky southpaw lives and trains in Miami under the tutelage of Johnson and famed trainer Orlando Cuellar, Johnson also severs as his advisor.

“When Glen Johnson walked in the door with this kid, I knew he had to be the real deal, we are very excited to add Riley to our already talent packed stable and we plan on taking him straight to the top”, said Joe DeGuardia

Star Boxing also scored big with the signing of Jr. Olympic standout, 18 year old Philadelphian welterweight Raymond Serrano (2-0, 1KO). After showing awesome skills and enjoying huge success in the amateurs, Serrano opted to forego the 2008 summer Olympics and go straight to the pros.

Serrano comes from good solid fighting stock, he is the nephew of Philadelphia tough boxer Ben Serrano who fought and famously beat heavy favorite Doug Dewitt and made a respectable name for himself in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s now time for his young nephew who is trained by his father Ramon Serrano to take over the family business and get to the business of working his way up through the ranks, with the guidance of Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing. This mild mannered young standout will undoubtedly become a champion.

“They say lightening doesn’t strike twice, well it did for Star Boxing, we are very pleased to be able to bring these two standout young men into the fold of Star Boxing.” said Joe DeGuardia.

Riley and Serrano will each step into the squared circle for the first time under the Star banner on February 15, at Mohegan Sun Arena as part of the under card attraction on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. The Main Event features Delving Rodriguez vs. Troy Browning.
