steve cunninghamPhiladelphia (August 27, 2007)—On Friday night September 7th, The Legendary Blue Horizon will honor the IBF Cruiserweight champion, Steve “USS” Cunningham for becoming the latest in a long line of world champions that come from “The City of Brotherly Love.”

The ceremony will take place during a big night of boxing that will be headlined by heavyweight knockout artist Joey Abell (15-1, 15 KO’s) in a scheduled eight round bout.

Cunningham (20-1, 10 KO’s) won the IBF Cruiserweight belt on May 26th with a majority decision over Krzysztof Wlodarczyk in Wlodarczyk’s home country of Poland.

“I am honored that The Blue Horizon would take the time to recognize my accomplishment.” Said Cunningham when told about the award, “I grew up in Philadelphia and the Blue Horizon is a special place to anyone who follows boxing.”

Vernoca Michael who is presenting this great evening is equally thrilled to be able to acknowledge the currant world champion, “I have gotten to know Steve and his wife over the last couple years as they have been big supporters of our events. I already knew he was a champion outside the ring and even though he fights for Don King, I was just as happy as if it was one of my fighters that won the world title. So it was an easy decision to combine Philadelphia’s latest world champion and The Legendary Blue Horizon for this special occasion.”
