Zuniga stops Zamora at Morongo!

28.04.07 – Fernando Zuniga stopped Ernesto Zamora in the fourth round with a brutal body shot at the Morongo Casino located in Cabazon, California in the main event of a II Feathers promotion. The Ecuadorian improved his record to (26-8, 20 KO’s) while Zamora dropped to (7-9, 5 KO’s) The stoppage was announced by Joe Martinez as 2:43 of the fourth when Zuniga landed a hard right hand to the body which put Zamora out for the count. The fight took place in the light heavyweight division..

The event was presented in front of a capacity crowd of about 1,000 fans.

Bantamweight Michael “Lil Warrior” Franco of Hesperia, Ca showed tremendous growth in stopping the very tough Baladan Treviso. Franco kept his undefeated status and improved to (7-0, 6 KO’s). Treviso was dropped twice in the third round after putting up a good fight. Referee Pat Russell called a halt to the action after Treviso took some brutal lefts and ended up on the canvas. Treviso drops to (4-10-6).

Dominic Coca upped his record to (8-2) with an exciting back and forth battle over Gilberto Luque of Tempe, AZ, (4-3). Coca got the unanimous nod by scores of 59-55 and 58-56 twice. This was undoubtedly the fight of the night as both men provided the already hyped audience with some true Mexican style warfare.

140 pounder Khadaphi Proctor of Hesperia, CA won his pro debut by defeating Anthony Ramos by unanimous decision.

Sammy Yniguez also won his pro debut over also debuting Eddie Leal. Scores were 39-36, and 40-35 twice. Leal was dropped in the first round round with a left hook.

Checking out the action was former WBC Bantamweight champion Israel Vazquez. According to promoters Al Franco and Willie Schunke, the next card for II Feathers promotion will take place on July 13th at Morongo.
