26.02.07 – Reading hero Michael Sprott reckons his stunning KO of Audley Harrison will inspire the Royals to knock giants Manchester United out of the FA Cup replay tomorrow night. European Union Heavyweight Champion Sprott flattened Harrison with a blistering left hook at Wembley Arena earlier this month and on the same day a team of Reading reserves held mighty Man U superstars at bay with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. Sprott has been invited to the Madejski Stadium for tomorrow nights big return match and will also make a special half-time appearance to parade his championship belt on the pitch..
“I’m really looking forward to the big clash between Reading and Man U. I’m probably more excited about this game than my fight against Audley Harrison!” Said Sprott.
“It’s great that they have invited me back to make a special appearance following my win over Harrison. I went on the pitch during the Wigan game prior to my fight against Harrison and the reception I got was tremendous and that really lifted me. Fans just kept coming up to me during the game and telling me to knock Harrison which I gladly did for them!”
He added, “I hope that my KO of Harrison has given The Royals a big boost ahead of tomorrow night. Going into my fight against Harrison I was the underdog, which I found astonishing as I always knew I had the pedigree and talent to beat him, and we were the underdogs going into the match with Man U and we both pulled off sensational upsets.”
“Brynjar Gunnarson scored the equalizer last time and I wouldn’t put it past him to score the KO blow tomorrow night.”
Sprott’s next fight will be against Commonwealth Champion Matt Skelton on Saturday 26th May at a venue to be confirmed.
