Rob Calloway vs Alex Dimitrenko on Jan 7

23.11.05 – The heavyweight division is currently going through a radical change. In need of a new generation people want to see hot prospects – like the 23-year-old undefeated Hamburg based Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko, 20-0 (12). After the retirement of Vitali Klitschko it’s his countryman Dimitrenko who wants to fill the gap in the heavyweight division. The highly skilful 6-foot-7 law student is already holding three international titles and has set his eye on another step up of his opposition..

Since July 2004 Dimitrenko outscored the tough trial horses Julius Francis and Ross Puritty, won the IBF Youth Title against American youngster Chris Koval and captured the intercontinental belts of WBO and IBF with a second round knockout over German champion Andreas Sidon.

In his most recent fight Alexander Dimitrenko outscored former two-time world title challenger Vaughn Bean allowing him to enter the top-10 of the WBO rankings afterwards.

On January 7 Dimitrenko will take on American veteran Rob Calloway, 56-5-1 (43), on the first Universum boxing show in 2006 at Zenith – Die Kulturhalle of Munich, Germany.

Since turning pro in December of 2001 Dimitrenko, a former Junior World Champion in the amateurs, is being trained by Fritz Sdunek, the former German coach of Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko.

Calloway who calls himself the „All American Prizefighter“will be another strong test for Dimitrenko against a man far more experienced than himself. The 36-year-old man out of Missouri won his last nine consecutive fights.

It will be the first event of Universum Box-Promotion in Munich in the south of Germany since August 30, 2003, when Wladimir Klitschko knocked out Fabio Moli. On that event Alexander Dimitrenko was fighting his tenth professional contest.
