Tarver – Jones 3: Post fight quotes

Roy Jones: “I was hard to go out like I would have being knocked out twice the last couple of times. I’m a true champion. I’ve been at the top. Being the champion that I am, it was good. I was satisfied with my performance, but I do realize that I lost the fight. I’m not the kind of fighter, like Johnson that can brawl. And that’s the way you have to fight to beat Tarver. Tarver would have given me all I could handle in my best days as a light heavyweight.

Nothing’s for granted. I wasn’t assured of victory till they raised my hand. I just did the best I could. I feel I beat Roy a lot better, a lot worse than the first time.

(to Roy) You got more money than me…but I ain’t mad at you.

Minto: I could box, that’s what I’m talking about. See how better I got? I got skills now.

Maddalone: I was taking his punches all night. We’re in here fighting, ya know? We were trying to fight and the guy’s stopping it.

Ward: I tried to throw an overhand right and, him being a south ball, he ducked right into a swivel jab. I definitely planned on going 6 rounds, but sometimes it happens like this.

Campbell: They can’t count me out. You don’t know the feeling. I was gunna tear him apart. I told my corner, we’ll
