Rocky Juarez destroys Juan Carlos Ramirez

05.03.05 – by Kent Appel: Ricardo “Rocky” Juarez of Houston, Texas stormed out of his corner to knock out Juan Carlos Ramirez of Juarez, Mexico in the very first round of the scheduled ten round featherweight contest that was promoted by Main Events Productions and broadcast live in the United States on ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights from the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California..

Juarez didn’t take any time in dropping Ramirez with a hard right hand as the bout started. This tremendous shot was followed up by two more knockdowns in the round, one from another right hand and the final deciding blow by a left hook with one second left in the round. The referee wasted no time in stopping the contest after the third knockdown. Juarez remains undefeated by climbing to 23-0, 16 by KO while Ramirez falls to 34-8, 14 by KO.

In the Ten round CO feature bantamweight IBF title elimination fight, Cruz Carbajal of Veracruz, Mexico upset Jorge Lacierva of Atlanta, Georgia by scoring a TKO at the end of the sixth round when Lacierva was unable to continue due to severe lacerations around his eyes.

Lacierva had boxed well in the first four rounds but Carbajal pressed the action hard in rounds five and six to pound out the come from behind win. Carbajal steps up his record to 25-12-1, 21 by KO while Lacierva is now 26-6 18 by KO.

In a welterweight contest scheduled for four rounds, Henry Crawford of New Jersey won a unanimous decision over Alex Viramontes of Riverside, California. Crawford ups his record to 5-0, 1 by KO while Viramontes steps back to 5-3, 3 by KO.

Also on the card, in a junior welterweight bout, Hector Munoz of Albuquerque, New Mexico won a four round decision over Jose Luis Noyola of Zapopan, Mexico. Munoz improves his record to 10-1, 6 by KO while Noyola slips to 23-4-1, 12 by KO.
