Showtime Final Press Conference Quotes: Davis vs Sellers

29.04.04 – USBA Cruiserweight Champion and IBF No. 1 contender, Kelvin “Concrete” Davis, will take on IBF No. 4 contender Ezra Sellers for the vacant IBF cruiserweight title Saturday, May 1 (9 p.m. ET/PT) on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. In the co-feature, PABA Middleweight Champion and WBA No. 4 contender, Maselino Masoe, will battle WBA International Middleweight Champion and WBA No. 5 contender, Evans Ashira, for the vacant WBA middleweight crown. Don King Productions will promote the doubleheader from the Miami Jai-Alai Fronton.

KELVIN “CONCRETE” DAVIS (20-2-1, 14 KOs)

“I am a fighter. I have been fighting my whole life. When I was in school, I would go to other schools just to seek out the toughest kid so I could challenge him to a fight. It does not matter what is at stake; I will fight you for a glass of water. There is no more pressure on me for this fight than any other. On Saturday, my plan is to go in fighting and come out a world champion. Sellers is a good fighter with a good record and has experience. I have the mentality of a warrior. I am very focused. But the key for me is to use my brains and be smart. The difference Saturday will be my determination. I will do anything and everything to win, just like I always do. I am willing to die in the ring.’’

EZRA SELLERS (27-5, 24 KOs)

“I would like to thank Don King and SHOWTIME for this great opportunity. I am here to fight and to make this a great fight. I cannot wait until Saturday. I have waited a long, long time to fight for a world title. I kept knocking guys out, but nothing happened. Finally, my time is here and I plan to make the best of it. I am really glad this fight is going to happen. Davis can talk all he wants. He says he is a fighter. Well, I am a fighter, too. On Saturday he will see firsthand at just how good a fighter I am.’’

MASELINO MASOE (24-2, 23 KOs)

“This is going to be one of the greatest, most exciting middleweight world title fights in years. Both of us come to fight, and come to win. I do not see how it can go the distance. Ashira is very determined, but I have waited my whole life for a fight like this and appreciate the efforts of everyone who made it possible. I have a lot of respect for Ashira, but this is a fight I have to win. I am ready to go now.’’

EVANS ASHIRA (23-0, 13 KOs)

“This is a great opportunity for me to step up and show the world what I can do and to make a statement in the middleweight division. I have fought all over the world. I am just happy that Masoe decided to show up. I have been after him for three years but until now had no luck. I am ready and in terrific shape. This fight, I swear, is going to be a war and the fight of the night.’’
