DBE Champions, Contenders, And Prospects “March” Into Spring Schedule

25.02.04 – While much of the United States is still dealing with one of the worst winter seasons in history, DiBella Entertainment’s stalwart crew of champions, contenders, and prospects are aiming to heat up arenas and living rooms of boxing fans in February and March with their own brand of fistic energy.

The action for the DBE crew kicks off this Thursday, February 26, when unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Sechew Powell (10-0, 7 KOs) battles Kirk Douglas (10-5, 8 KOs) in a six rounder at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, California. On March 6, at the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson (42-3, 27 KOs), fresh off his stirring victory over Fernando Montiel last year, defends his WBO Junior Bantamweight Championship against unbeaten Luis Bolano (38-0, 28 KOs). This 12 rounder will be televised live on Showtime beginning at 9pm ET/PT.

Eight days later, on Sunday March 14, at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, “The Galaxxy Warrior”, Nate Campbell (24-1-1, 21 KOs), will look to add to his stellar record as he battles tough Robbie Peden (22-2, 12 KOs) in a 12 round junior lightweight bout. This fight will be aired on tape delay on Fox Sports Net March 21. Junior welterweight contender Hector Camacho Jr. (35-1, 20 KOs) makes his first start of 2004 on March 20, as he tangles with Juan Macias (29-20-2, 19 KOs) in a ten round contest to be held at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California.

To put a big finish on this big month, DBE travels to the Alltel Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 27 for “March Badness”, an HBO Boxing After Dark-televised card featuring two intriguing matchups. In the main event, highly regarded middleweight contender Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor (19-0, 14 KOs) puts his undefeated record on the line against Alex Bunema (24-3-2, 12 KOs) in a 12 round bout for Taylor’s WBC Continental Americas title. Opening up the show will be heavyweight Monte Barrett (29-3, 16 KOs), who will take on unbeaten Dominick Guinn (24-0, 17 KOs) in a ten rounder. The HBO broadcast begins at 10pm ET/PT.
