In a heart and soul performance, rugged warrior Rene “Gemelo” Alvarado (25-8, 17 KOs) from Managua, Nicaragua triumphed over Maracaibo, Venezuela’s Roger “The Kid” Gutierrez (15-1-1, 11 KOs) with a technical knockout victory that handed Gutierrez his first career loss as the main event on Boxeo Estelar. The fighters left nothing behind on the mat, Alvarado giving Gutierrez a hard time and a bloody right eye. Gutierrez’s corner waved the fight off at 1:34 in the seventh round of the super featherweight bout.
PBC on FOX & HBO Tripleheader Predictions
Both HBO and the PBC on Fox have dueling tripleheaders this Saturday night featuring quality matchmaking from top to bottom whether you’re looking for pure entertainment or an evenly matched 50-50. For this boxing scribe (hack) the most intriguing one of all is Joe Smith Jr. vs. Sullivan Barrera and the can’t-miss action fights include Berchelt vs. Miura and Figueroa vs. Guerrero.
Here’s the rundown on how these fights will play out starting with a true pick’em, Joe Smith Jr. vs. Sullivan Barrera. Just a few days short of 13 months ago the boxing public especially the media, destroyed a PBC on NBC main event that matched Joe Smith Jr. against Andrzej Fonfara. That fight was chastised as yet another (perceived) mismatch from the Al Haymon stable pushed aside as a worthless waste of space for a prime time slot. Then the first round happened and the rest is music to Joe’s ears. Once again Joe was seen as a sizable underdog facing The Legend of Longevity Bernard Hopkins late last year. Joe knocked Bhop out of the ring ending his storied career abruptly.

Vasyl Lomachenko-Guillermo Rigondeaux? Lomachenko says he would “destroy him like a tank!”
If superb boxing masters Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeax ever did somehow meet, in what would have to be a catch-weight affair, what with Lomachenko being such a naturally bigger man – we would see, arguably, the two finest boxers in the world today going against each other.
Floyd Mayweather says plenty about why he thinks Manny Pacquiao’s performances declined, while actually saying very little
Is the wide decision win Floyd Mayweather scored over fellow superstar Manny Pacquiao his defining win? It seems that, present, or upcoming fight with Conor McGregor aside, the May 2015 fight is the one most people want to talk to Mayweather about.
And though “Money” is currently going all-out to hype, hype and then really hype, his August fight with MMA star McGregor, he is still being asked about the win he scored over Pac Man. And, in a short interview with Fight Hub, Mayweather managed to say a whole lot about his former rival – this without actually saying much at all. We have to read between the lines somewhat, to get what Floyd is really saying:

Chris Eubank Jr. Arthur Abraham weigh-in results
Update: Abraham finally makes weight. Weights: Eubank Jr. 167.5, Abraham 168
Super-middleweight rivals Chris Eubank Junior and Arthur Abraham have weighed-in for tomorrow night’s IBO title defence by Eubank Jr. and though both men look to be in fantastic physical condition, challenger Abraham actually failed to make the 168 pound limit.
Abraham was all smiles as he climbed onto the scale, but he tipped in at 12 stone 1LB and 5 oz, a little over 169 pounds. According to IBO rules, Abraham has until later this afternoon (around 4PM UK time) to shed the excess weight and come in at 168. Eubank, looking as stern as ever, tipped in at 11 stone 13LBS and 3 oz.
