Little known fringe contender Mark De Mori is talking about potentially retiring from the sport if he knocks out 35-year-old David Haye in their heavyweight fight this month on January 16th at the O2 Arena in London, England. De Mori, 33, wants to retire on a high point and he feels that a victory over the ring rusty Haye would be potentially a great way for him to leave boxing.
De Mori is an underdog in this fight despite the fact that Haye hasn’t fought in almost 4 years. Most fans believe that Haye will have no trouble beating De Mori, but you never know when you’ve got someone who has been out of action or as long as Haye has. He last fought in 2012 in beating Dereck Chisora. Haye’s last serious fight was against Wladimir Klitschko in 2011, and he looked really poor in that fight.

Golden Boy Promotions are looking for an opponent for their franchise fighter Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to fight on May 7th on Cinco De Mayo on HBO pay-per-view. The date for Canelo’s fight is now in place for May 7th, and now Golden Boy is looking for an opponent and a venue for the fight to be staged.
This will be another pay-per-view fight for the 25-year-old Canelo Alvarez, which means that Golden Boy will need to find someone that is appealing to the fans. Willie Monroe Jr. and Gabriel Rosado are the names in the spotlight. However, Golden Boy has David Lemieux as a possibility if they want to throw him back into the ring in another tough fight.
If WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders doesn’t accept the offer made to him by IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s promoters at K2 for a unification fight in April, then Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) will face his #1 IBF mandatory Tureano Johnson (19-1, 13 KOs) on April 23rd. The fight will be televised on HBO Championship boxing at Madison Square Garden in New York.
This would not be a pay-per-view bout like the 33-year-old Golovkin’s last fight in October against IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux. Tureano, 31, is a good fighter, but he is not popular enough for Golovkin to fight on PPV against him.
