Canelo Alvarez to fight on 5/7 on HBO pay-per-view

Canelo Alvarez to fight on 5/7 on HBO pay-per-view

Golden Boy Promotions are looking for an opponent for their franchise fighter Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to fight on May 7th on Cinco De Mayo on HBO pay-per-view. The date for Canelo’s fight is now in place for May 7th, and now Golden Boy is looking for an opponent and a venue for the fight to be staged.

This will be another pay-per-view fight for the 25-year-old Canelo Alvarez, which means that Golden Boy will need to find someone that is appealing to the fans. Willie Monroe Jr. and Gabriel Rosado are the names in the spotlight. However, Golden Boy has David Lemieux as a possibility if they want to throw him back into the ring in another tough fight.

Golovkin vs. Tureano Johnson in the works for 4/23

Golovkin vs. Tureano Johnson in the works for 4/23

If WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders doesn’t accept the offer made to him by IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s promoters at K2 for a unification fight in April, then Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) will face his #1 IBF mandatory Tureano Johnson (19-1, 13 KOs) on April 23rd. The fight will be televised on HBO Championship boxing at Madison Square Garden in New York.

This would not be a pay-per-view bout like the 33-year-old Golovkin’s last fight in October against IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux. Tureano, 31, is a good fighter, but he is not popular enough for Golovkin to fight on PPV against him.

Joseph Parker interested Anthony Joshua fight

Joseph Parker interested Anthony Joshua fight

Unbeaten heavyweight contender Joseph Parker (17-0, 15 KOs) says he hopes to face undefeated British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Antony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) in the future. Parker, 23, is a little bit younger than the 26-year-old Joshua, but with perhaps a little more punching power in both hands. Joshua has been developed a bit more as a pro, and he would appear to be a little ahead of the 6’4” New Zealand heavyweight at this time.

Parker saw Joshua’s recent 7th round stoppage over the injured Dillian Whyte last December and he was impressed with what he saw from Joshua. Whyte staggered Joshua in the 2nd round before suffering an injury to left power hand and being forced to fight mainly with only one good hand the rest of the way.

Is Tyson Fury a one-hit wonder?

Is Tyson Fury a one-hit wonder?

Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) is getting his 15 minutes of fame with his recent upset win over 39-year-old past his best IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) last November. Fury, 27, has the spot light on him and is getting a ton of positive attention right now. He soon will have to prove whether his victory over Klitschko was just a fluke thing, as the two fighters will be facing each other at some point in 2016. Fury will need to show the fans whether he’s good enough to finish off Wladimir and send him possibly into retirement.

Terence Crawford vs. Hank Lundy possible for 2/27

WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) failed to get the Manny Pacquiao fight on April 9th after being passed over by WBO welterweight champion Tim “Desert Storm” Bradley. Instead of getting the Pacquiao fight and making a huge killing, it’s looking like Crawford, 28, will need to settle for a fight against lightweight Hank Lundy (26-5-1, 13 KOs) on February 27th on HBO at Madison Square Garden in New York.
