Brook: “I Won’t Give Up My World Title”

Kell Brook says he won’t give up his IBF World Welterweight title and is plotting huge unification bouts for 2017.

The Sheffield star is back in the gym following a minor operation on the damaged eye socket he suffered in his epic showdown with Middleweight king Gennady Golovkin in London in September.

The 30 year old landed the IBF crown with a superb win over Shawn Porter in California in August 2014 before clinical stoppage wins in defences over Jo Jo Dan, Frankie Gavin and Kevin Bizier before stepping up two weights to take on ‘Triple G’.

Could we see Alexander Ustinov-David Haye or Ustinov-Manuel Charr for WBA interim belt?

It seems we could soon see yet another heavyweight match-up contesting a version of the WBA title. As fight fans know, Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko are set to meet for the “super” version of the WBA belt next March or April (dependent on Joshua coming through okay against his IBF title challenger Eric Molina on December 10) and Shannon Briggs and Lucas Browne are set to rumble, with the “regular” version on the line before the end of the year.

Kell Brook: If the Amir Khan fight is nailed and all signed, that's when you'll see me back at 147

Sometimes a possible big fight that proves to take a long time getting made runs the risk of passing its sell-by date. Fans will only remain interested in a certain match-up for so long. Right now, the all-British showdown that is Amir Khan-Kell Brook still interests fans, in Britain especially, but if it doesn’t happen soon – say by next summer at the latest – both fighters will be running the risk of alienating the fans.

Maybe it’s too late already, and fans have cooled on the welterweight fight? But both fighters are still talking about it happening.

Whyte, Chisora separated by security as gloves are off filming stopped

Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora had to be separated by security and filming was halted at Sky Sports studios this evening as they faced-off in the ‘Gloves Are Off’ ahead of their WBC World Heavyweight title eliminator at the Manchester Arena on December 10, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on SHOWTIME in the US.

The bitter London rivals sat face-to-face for 22 tension-filled minutes of filming with Johnny Nelson the man in the middle, before Whyte accused Chisora of ducking a clash with Anthony Joshua – lighting the fuse for the pair to leap to their feet, leading to security stepping in and filming ending.

Chisora and Whyte come face to face at presser, exchange barbs, both promise KO victory

Bitter heavyweight rivals Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte came face to face today at a press conference to further promote a British heavyweight title fight that in truth needs no further hype. These two DO NOT like one another and even if reigning British champ Whyte has made a habit of engaging in a war of words, verbally attacking a number of his previous opponents, the simmering intensity between these two is as real as it gets.

Before today’s presser, promoter Eddie Hearn was admittedly concerned over the two big men coming to blows or doing something generally crazy. This, thankfully did not happen (although these two have been involved in out-of-the-ring shenanigans before; remember Chisora’s infamous “bottle” incident with David Haye in Germany?)
