Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury – Who Wins?

Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury - Who Wins?

This weekend lineal heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (63-3,53ko) returns to America to fight Philadelphia’s Bryant Jennings (19-0,10ko) at Madison Square Garden in New York, the big Ukrainian fighter’s first fight on American soil in seven long years.

Nobody expects relative novice Jennings to trouble the dominant champion in a fight that is for all intents and purposes a mismatch. Jennings has only been boxing for 6 years in total, amateur AND professional and the question lies more in who is going to be the next star of the division?

Klitschko v Fury – Is Jennings Able To Spoil The Party?

Klitschko v Fury - Is Jennings Able To Spoil The Party?

Ahead of this weekend’s heavyweight clash from New York that pits dominant lineal champion Wladimir Klitschko against Philadelphia’s Bryant Jennings, Frank Warren has written in his weekly column for the Independent in the UK to talk of his hopes for British #1 Tyson Fury, and how he wants the fight for his man against Wladimir in the UK.

Fury is the mandated challenger to Wladimir’s WBO belt and should Klitschko beat Jennings Saturday night as all expect him to, then Warren and the Klitschko’s have 30 days to put the fight together before it goes to purse bids.

Frank Warren Looking Past Jennings To Put Klitschko V Fury Together

Frank Warren Looking Past Jennings To Put Klitschko V Fury Together

Veteran British promoter Frank Warren has spoken to TalkSPORT in the UK today to once again signal his intent with regards to enforcing Tyson Fury’s mandatory challenge to Wladimir Klitshcko, once the giant Ukranian fights relative American novice Bryant Jennings in New York on the 25th April.

It is also a sign of Warren’s level of belief in the chance of Jennings dethroning the long time champion, a belief that is slim on the ground with regards to every day boxing fans.

Let’s for arguments sake assume that the consensus opinion is correct here, which I believe it is.

Tyson Fury secures impressive win over Christian Hammer

YouTube video
Tyson Fury inches even closer to a world title with a dominant victory over Christian Hammer. Hammer was coming into this fight off the back of ten consecutive victories, and whilst a heavy underdog, was expected to at least test Fury for stretches of this fight. In the end it turned out to be a repeat of the Chisora fight, which we saw just three months ago.

Hammer did not have the speed, size or strength to trouble Fury, and Fury seemed to enjoy the night, jabbing away and moving back and forth between stances before the fight was ultimately stopped after the eighth round when Christians corner had seen enough and threw in the towel. This marked Tyson’s eighth stoppage in his past nine outings.

Kevin Johnson: "Tyson Fury is an 8/10, Anthony Joshua is a 3/10."

American heavyweight Kevin Johnson claims time spent in the company of Tyson Fury will serve him well ahead of a proposed April 25 collision with Anthony Joshua – because Fury is considerably better than the former Olympic champion.

Twenty-six-year-old Fury fights Christian Hammer this Saturday (February 28) at the O2 Arena, live on BoxNation, and Johnson was one of his main sparring partners in camp.

The Atlanta-native couldn’t have asked for a better kickstart to his own preparations.

Tyson Fury has 7 stoppages in his past 8 fights

Tyson Fury has 7 stoppages in his past 8 fights

In 2011, heavyweight Tyson Fury fought Nocolai Firtha. This was Furys 16th fight of his career and he stopped Firtha in the 5th round. Interestingly 2 years and another loss later Wilder would also fight Firtha, despite this being his thirtieth fight. From that point Fury has fought another 7 times and out of those eight fights he has stopped 7 opponents. The point I am making here is that Fury was never known as a real puncher considering he fights in the heavyweight division. He now has 17 stoppages from 23 fights which is around a 75% KO ratio.
