Shakur Stevenson took to social media to question promoter Oscar De La Hoya for why it took so long for William Zepeda to fight him.
Highly ranked #1 contender William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) is leaving his options open for which champion at lightweight that he faces next after beating veteran Tevin Farmer (33-7-1, 8 KOs) by a ten-round split decision to win the WBC interim 135-lb title last Saturday at the Latino Night event at The Venue in Riyadh.
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya confirmed today that if William Zepeda is victorious against Tevin Farmer this Saturday night in Riyadh, he will immediately enter a world title fight against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.
William Zepeda will be given a good test by Tevin Farmer that he must pass and look good this Saturday night to move forward to challenge Shakur Stevenson for his WBC lightweight title next February.
Shakur Stevenson is already predicting victory over Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis for a hoped-for unification fight in 2025. Although there are no guarantees that a match with WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) will happen next year, WBC champ Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) believes it will, and he has no doubts that he’ll be victorious.
Oscar De La Hoya wishes Shakur Stevenson a speedy recovery from his recent hand surgery, and he wants him to be 100% when Golden Boy fighter, William Zepeda, challenges him for his WBC lightweight title in the first quarter of 2025.
Tevin Farmer insists that William Zepeda won’t make it to the Shakur Stevenson fight in February. He intends to defeat the #1 rated lightweight contender Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs) in their fight on November 16th at The Venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Shakur Stevenson says he wants to learn how to use the wrist exercises that light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev uses for his training.
Terence Crawford defended fighters Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney, arguing against the criticism they’ve been receiving from fans.
Crawford points out that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is one of the youngest undisputed champions in history, and he feels he “showed heart” getting up from knockdowns in his recent loss to Ryan Garcia last April.
WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson predicts that #1-ranked William Zepeda will take his “first L” in February when the two battle in Shakur’s debut with his new promoters at Matchroom.
