By Peter Wells: If you didn’t watch last night’s fight between Peter Quillin and Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, then you must be wondering how a fighter can score six knockdowns and still be in a close fight. Well the scorecards say it all, 115-107 across the board for Quillin, in a fight that had three 10-7 rounds in favour of the Cuban-American. Had it not been for those knockdowns then the fight would have been scored 115-113 to Quillin, or the fight could have easily been a draw, as in the 12th round he was in control before suffering the two knockdowns that ultimately ended any slim chance of an amazing comeback.

The fight was fought at a brisk pace, as both boxers took it in turns to take the front foot. Both looked better when they fought on the front foot, but it was Quillin who made the biggest impact with his powerful left hook.

By Joseph Herron – Undefeated Middleweight Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KOs) captured a piece of the 160 pound puzzle by besting the previously unbeaten incumbent WBO title holder, Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-1, 17 KOs), to earn a unanimous twelve round decision, flooring the defending champ six times in the process.

To begin the most action filled bout of the highly publicized Golden Boy quadruple header, the French based fighter used shifting lateral movement to keep the title challenger off balance and seemed to frustrate Quillin with quick shots from the outside.

N’Dam ostensibly won two of the first three rounds of action based on ring generalship and clean, effective punching from mid to long range. Despite having difficulty cutting off the ring effectively, “Kid Chocolate” showed his poise and maturity by shifting gears to plan B and forcing the reigning champ to assume a more aggressive role.

Rather than fighting N’Dam’s fight, the 29 year old Brooklynite baited the fleet footed visiting fighter into letting his hands go while moving in and countered Hassan with a picture perfect left hook that floored the WBO title holder for the first time in his professional career within the first minute of round number four.

By Joseph Herron – Tonight at the newly erected Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, 29 year old Middleweight, “Kid Chocolate” Peter Quillin (27-0, 20 KOs), will attempt to capture his first major world title as he takes on incumbent WBO Champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0, 17 KOs) in the opening act of a spectacular Golden Boy quadruple header.

The action in the ring will be televised on Showtime premium cable network with a start time of 8PM EST/PST.

While most casual fight fans won’t be familiar with the reigning title holder, the hungry young Brooklynite will have his hands full against the durable and undefeated French born fighter.

But according to “Kid Chocolate”, the juice will definitely be worth the squeeze on October 20th.

“Every fight is a 50/50 fight, no matter what anyone tries to say,” stated Peter Quillin. “Any fighter can come into a fight with the right frame of mind and land one shot that puts you away. It only takes one good punch to knock a fighter out and anyone can come in the ring and land that perfect shot on any given day.”

“I know that N’Dam is a world champion and I know he’s undefeated. To get to that level you have to be the hardest working fighter in the gym. Unless you’re Chavez Jr, a world champion is always the hardest working fighter in the gym.”

Exclusive Interview by Geoffrey Ciani – Last night I was afforded the opportunity to speak with middleweight contender Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin (27-0, 20 KOs), who will be challenging WBO champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0, 17 KOs) on October 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Quillin spoke about his career, including his most recent victory against Winky Wright, his preparations for his first title shot, and what he feels he needs to do to be successful and capture his first world championship. He also provided his views on a variety of recent contests that have occurred in and around his weight class, including: Sergio Martinez’s victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Junior, Gennady Golovkin’s impressive knockout against Grzegorz Proksa, Daniel Geale’s upset win in his unification bout with Felix Sturm, and Andre Ward’s one-sided showcase against ‘Bad’ Chad Dawson. GEOFFREY CIANI: Hello boxing fans. This is Geoffrey Ciani from East Side Boxing and I am joined by undefeated middleweight contender Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin. How’s everything going today, Pete?

PETER QUILLIN: I am super blessed taking everything one day at a time. How are you doing?

CIANI: I’m doing very well. Thank you, Pete. You have a big fight coming up October 20 for the WBO middleweight title. You’ll be taking on Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam. How do you feel about your preparations and training for this fight?

QUILLIN: I’ve been here already two and a half months, almost three months now, so I’m feeling in shape. I feel good. Sparring has been bringing the best out of me. So this opportunity coming my way, I’m going to be more than ready to knock down that bridge, and to go ahead and let everybody know once I rebuild the bridge, that it’s going to be a better looking bridge. It’s going to be a better champion that owns this belt.

The quality, value for money card will be topped by Danny Garcia’s rematch with Mexican legend Erik Morales at 140-pounds, with “Magic Man” Paulie Malignaggi defending his 147-pound belt against former Morales foe Pablo Cesar Cano as the chief support.

Richard Schaefer has now told Ringtv.com that hot middleweight contender Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin will challenge for his first world title on the card – against fellow unbeaten and reigning WBO 160-pound champ Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam of France.

“Peter Quillin, Kid Chocolate, will be the first fight on the Brooklyn card, and he will be fighting for the WBO middleweight championship of the world. So now, it’s going to be a triple-header, world championship card,” The Golden Boy CEO told Ring.
