Mikey Garcia is on a roll. The undefeated Californian who sports a hugely impressive 37-0 record and who graces all current pound-for-pound lists, has already won recognized belts at 126, 130 and, most recently 135 pounds. Now, according to a breaking news piece from RingTV.com, Garcia will challenge newly crowned IBF 140 pound champ Sergey Lipinets in February.

Mikey Garcia-Jorge Linares not happening as Garcia turns down offer to fight
As per a news piece by Dan Rafael of Espn.com, talks had begun a weeks or so ago for a lightweight unification clash between Mikey Garcia and Jorge Linares, to have taken place early next year some time. Well, it ain’t gonna happen after all.
Eric Gomez of Golden Boy met with Garcia himself and, surprisingly, Garcia turned the fight, or the fight offer down.

Miguel Cotto has made two things clear: he will not fight beyond December of this year, his retirement plans being absolutely final, and he wants to go out with, as he says it, “a bang.” The target the Puerto Rican great had in mind before last Saturday night was the winner between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez.
As we all know there was no winner at the conclusion of the most heavily hyped middleweight showdown in years, so Cotto seems to be out of luck with regards to his facing either warrior (who are almost certain to box a rematch, perhaps next May.) But Cotto has just been given another very interesting retirement fight possibility courtesy of lightweight ruler Mikey Garcia.
What next for Mikey Garcia, Adrien Broner?
Mikey Garcia once again showed his class and talent in dominating Adrien Broner. The unbeaten star who has won titles at three different weights looked great fighting as a 140-pounder. Broner, who once again promised so much, failed to deliver. But this was largely down to the simple fact that Garcia, now 37-0(30) didn’t allow Broner to do much of anything apart from talk (both before, during and even after the fight).
After losing for the third time in his career, Broner vowed to come back and win another belt, but his defiance doesn’t look like it will be matched with actions. Broner, a good fighter once seemingly capable of achieving greatness or something close to it, looks to be done at elite level. As for Garcia, he has an absolute ton of options; as he made clear when speaking after his unanimous decision victory.

Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KOs) arguably finished off the career of Adrien “The Problem” Broner (33-3, 24 KOs) in beating him by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision to win the WBC Diamond light welterweight title on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Broner says Garcia “quit” in Orlando Salido fight, says Salido “should’ve won that fight”
The only thing close to a blemish on the 36-0 record of Mikey Garcia came in his 2013 technical decision win over ultra-tough Mexican warrior Orlando Salido. Then fighting down at featherweight and challenging Salido for the WBO belt, Garcia knocked Salido down four times, before “Siri” came back, and then came on.
A clash of heads saw Garcia, then 30-0, suffer a badly busted nose, and the fight was stopped with the TD victory going the Californian’s way. Salido, his supporters claim, might have finished strong enough to have won the January 2013 battle; maybe even by stoppage.
