Hatton: “Joseph Parker isn’t on Lucas Browne’s radar”

Hatton: "Joseph Parker isn’t on Lucas Browne’s radar"

RICKY HATTON has stated that Kiwi hopeful Joseph Parker isn’t even on Hatton Promotions’ radar for Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne.

Parker defeated little known American Keith Thompson this weekend and has mentioned a showdown with Browne on numerous occasions.

But as Browne, who holds the Commonwealth, WBC EPBC and WBA Inter-continental crowns, is ranked highly by the three main world governing bodies and seemingly on the verge of a world title shot, the match-up is highly unlikely at present.

“I’ve heard Parker’s team say Lucas is scared of them, which is laughable,” Ricky said.

LUCAS “BIG DADDY” BROWNE came through his toughest test to date and remained on course for a world title shot with hard fought unanimous decision over Andriy Rudenko in Wolverhampton, England on Friday night (August 1).

Both men made their intentions clear from the start and landed with solid shots. Browne, bleeding close to both eyes from a number of head clashes, took control of things from the fifth round and never looked like losing the fight.

Lucas Browne Wants Arreola/Stiverne Winner

AUSSIE puncher Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne says he’d be prepared to step in against the winner of the upcoming WBC heavyweight title fight between Chris Arreola and Bermane Stiverne.

Browne enhanced his standing with the Mexico City-based sanctioning body in Sheffield, England on Saturday night by blasting out Stiverne’s countryman Eric Martel Bahoeli in five rounds and he’s eager for sterner tests.

Fights with both Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury have been mentioned for the hard-hitting Sydney man, but he’d happily push them to one side if a world title opportunity became available.

“Like every heavyweight my ultimate goal is Klitschko, but I know I’ve got a few little things I need to work on before I’ll be ready for that fight,” he said.

LUCAS “BIG DADDY” BROWNE became the first Australian to win the Commonwealth heavyweight title in 122 years when he scored a fifth round knockout of Canada’s Eric Martel Bahoeli at the Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield, England on Saturday night.

After flooring Bahoeli heavily with solid right in the second, Browne sustained a severe cut above this left eye from a head clash in the third, but still battled on to record his 20th pro victory and 18th stoppage.

If anything the laceration seemed to bring out the best in the 35-year-old from Sydney.

Tonight in Sheffield, Australian heavyweight giant Lucas Browne won the vacant Commonwealth title with an exciting 5th-round KO over Canada’s Eric Martel Bahoeli. Browne’s Sunday punch, his big right hand, got the job done, as Bahoeli was clubbed to the floor whilst stuck in a corner. The time was one-minute and 26-seconds. Browne is now 20-0(17). Bahoeli, the younger man by three year at age 32, is now 10-4(7).

There was plenty of drama to keep the fans on the edge of their seat before the ending. Browne, stalking a moving target, looked to unload his power punches, with Bahoeli boxing well, landing some shots with his fast hands. The difference in power and strength was obvious however, and sure enough Browne, known as “Big Daddy” broke though in the 2nd. A looping right hand decked Bahoeli and it looked as though the fight was over with.

The Aussie banger dispatched New Orleans-born Kiwi Clarence Tillman inside two rounds at the Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington on Friday night (December 13th).

Tillman previously managed to go the distance with Browne in August 2011, but was swiftly outgunned this evening.

After a patient opening two minutes, Lucas began to rip shots to the body before homing in on Tillman’s head with heavy right hooks.

Lucas Browne: “I can’t say I’m surprised that David Price has vacated his titles”

.LUCAS “BIG DADDY” BROWNE says he’s far from shocked with David Price’s decision to vacate the Commonwealth heavyweight title.

The hammer-fisted Aussie won the right to contest the crown when he halted Sheffield giant Richard Towers last month.

He was hoping to square off with Price in early 2014, but the Liverpudlian’s new promoters, Sauerland, yesterday confirmed that he’ll be relinquishing the championship along with his British belt.

Browne keeps busy against old foe Clarence Tillman on December 13 and will be ready for his title opportunity in the New Year.

“I can’t say I’m surprised that Price has vacated to be honest. If Tony Thompson can stop Price, I know I can too,” Lucas, 18-0 (16 KOs), said.

“I have a fight in a weeks’ time that I’m focusing on and I can’t wait to close 2013 with a bang before beginning 2014 with that title fight.
