Golovkin Wants Froch Or Lemieux Now, Not Later

There has been some interesting talk from the much-avoided 160 lb fan favorite Gennady Golovkin this weekend regarding potential future fights, with the Kazakh knockout artist speaking out to British media and on twitter to talk Carl Froch and new IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux – who captured his strap in exciting but no means technically excellent manner on Saturday night against Frenchman Hassan N’Dam.

I have absolutely no confidence in Froch fighting on and the more time passes, the more that belief looks to be reality. However, he had expressed an interest in a Golovkin fight and for a man as avoided as the Kazakh star – all publicity is good publicity and he wants the world to know he is good on his side of the bargain and really will fight all comers.

Your question must surely be “who in God’s name is Amar Amari?”

Amar Amari was the last opponent that went the distance with GGG roughly seven years ago when the Kazakh fighter had his one and only bout in Denmark. The bout was chief support for Mikkel Kessler’s feature attraction against Dimitry Sartison which ended with Sartison being taken out of the ring on a stretcher.

Since that point Golovkin has taken out every single fighter that stood in his way and did so to the delight of boxing fans all over the world.

The latest going around on the net is the verbal sparring between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Khazakstan’s own GGG. GGG has said he’s confident of beating Mayweather should they meet September 12, 2015. Mayweather has responded saying that “GGG has never fought a top opponent in his whole career”!

GGG is lobbying to be Mayweather’s opponent for what will likely be the Las Vegan’s last fight of his career. Fan interest will be at an all-time high should this fight be made cause many fight fans buy a Mayweather PPV in hopes of seeing Floyd Mayweather LOSE and this fight would be extra special considering that Mayweather will be ‘equaling’ Rocky Marciano’s record by winning.

Floyd Mayweather is already trading shots with Gennady Golovkin … telling TMZ Sports the guy’s just running his mouth for a payday — and he’s way out of his league. Golovkin — who’s knocked out his last 20 opponents — told us Mayweather would be his “dream fight” and is 100% certain he’d win if they ever got in the ring together.

Now, Mayweather’s camp is issuing a response … saying, “Everyone in boxing wants to fight Floyd. It’s the biggest payday they could possibly have.”

“[Golovkin] has never fought a top opponent in his whole career … we’re surprised you guys would even have him on your show to be honest.”

Sounds like fightin’ words.

Golovkin has no doubts he’d beat Mayweather

It seems as if a new cockier version of Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) has emerged in the last four weeks since his win over Willie Monroe Jr. on May 16th. Gone is the humble, soft spoken Golovkin that never trash talked. The newer Golovkin is now unafraid to let his opponents know what he thinks of them.

In the case of Floyd Mayweather Jr., a fighter that Golovkin badly wants to fight, he sees him as no problem for him to beat. Golovkin says he’s 100 percent certain he would beat Mayweather if the superstar were to dare to fight him before he hangs up his gloves.

Willie Monroe Jr Would Love To Earn GGG Rematch

Many fans were left pleasantly surprised by 2014 Boxcino tournament winner Willie Monroe Jr in his fight with Gennady Golovkin recently, in which the spirited American was simply outgunned by the brute strength and power of the Kazakh who broke him down and floored him 3 times en route to earning a 6th round stoppage – one which was no doubt hastened by Monroe appearing to say “I’m done” to referee Jack Reiss after rising to his feet.

In spite of that, not many fans gave the light hitting New Yorker a prayer going into the fight, yet he was consistently able to tag Golovkin as the champion moved forward, all the while displaying some slick footwork, decent handspeed and a pure boxing southpaw style that for me, showed he at least has the ability to hang with most of the top 10 at 160lb.

‘Catchweight King’ seems to be a more appropriate phrase to describe lineal 160lb champion and WBC middleweight boss Miguel Cotto these days, with the fans almost unanimous in their recognition of Kazakh wrecking machine Gennady Golovkin as the division’s numero uno and top name.

Despite being in attendance to watch Cotto destroy Geale last night, Golovkin -the Puerto Rican’s mandatory challenger – appears to again being given the cold shoulder by Miguel and Freddie Roach as they look towards an all but confirmed super fight with Canelo Alvarez later this year.

As the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight taught us, all obstacles can be moved aside when you’re putting together a big PPV fight. Promotion companies, weights, feuds, and even separate cable network contracts are not enough to stiffen the plans of a Mega fight.

As we wait until Floyd’s next opponent becomes official, one potential golden ticket winner stands out.

It could well be more bad news for Miguel Cotto ahead of this weekend’s WBC middleweight clash with Australia’s Daniel Geale, as his mandatory challenger, Kazakh wrecking machine Gennady Golovkin plans on making an appearance at the fight – ostensibly to force the Puerto Rican into facing up to his mandatory responsibilities.

Golovkin, who last month beat Willie Monroe Jr into submission with his power punching has told fighthype.com

“I want to watch this fight in person and look forward to fighting the winner to show who the real WBC middleweight champion is.”

Eubank Jr Wants To Fight Golovkin
