Gennady Golovkin is one of the fastest growing stars in boxing. Some believe he is merely a smoke and mirrors hype job created by HBO, while others are convinced that he is the next best pound for pound king.

Let’s look into the Gennady Golovkin story.

Golovkin started boxing at 8 years old, and grew into an accomplished amateur. He boasts an amateur record of 345-5, with two gold medals in the World Amateur Boxing Championships, (which alongside the Olympic boxing program is the highest level of competition for the sport). May 23rd DeGale, and Dirrell will climb into the ring, and one will return home with an impressive red belt, and a second chance at stardom. Both of these men are at a critical point in their careers, and each has traveled a rocky path to arrive. Despite bringing home a gold medal in 2008 Olympics, DeGale was far from a fan favorite. The crowd erupted in boos as Chunky made his pro debut.

He later played the villain during the lead up to a George Groves clash, and further estranged his fan base.

After losing for the first time however, DeGale was humbled. He made changes, and not only sharpened his boxing acumen, but also polished his people skills. He went on to have a 10 fight winning streak, and win a European title. Now he is boxing for a world title.

Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin, better known as Triple G, has become a boxing star. His aggressive, drama show style, has sparked the interests of even casual boxing fans.

In a spectacular performance Crawford floored the undefeated former unified featherweight titleholder four times. At first the Cuban Olympic gold medalist appeared to be putting on a boxing clinic, however the Omaha fighter stayed calm, made adjustments, and completely turned the fight around in the 5th with a knockdown. His switch to southpaw, proved effective, and definitely demonstrated his ability to adapt.
