Gennady Golovkin Vs. Julian Jackson: Talk about a Dream Fight!

Reigning middleweight king Gennady Golovkin has thus far stood up to every punch he has been hit with, he has beaten every man he has faced at pro level (Canelo Alvarez aside, yet most people feel GGG did more than enough to have won the September Super-Fight that was instead scored as a draw) and he has made an incredible number of title retentions.

Boxing in 2017 – Oh What a Year! The Future Looks Bright, Despite the End of an Era

By Justin Jones: First, let me start off by giving the fighters, promoters, advisers, trainers, TV networks & executives, media members, and of course, the fans, a big round of applause (claps in circular motion)!

After a rather dull 2016, boxing fans were treated to a number of competitive and compelling matchups, seemingly every weekend this year. We witnessed history – Terrance Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) fully unifying the 140-pound division and two 2-time Olympic gold medalists get it on (Vasyl Lomachenko [10-1, 10 KOs] vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux [17-1, 11 KOs]). We were also treated to a number of pound-for-pound fighters willing to test their mettle against one another – Andrew Ward (32-0, 16 KOs) vs Sergey Kovalev (31-2-1, 27 KOs), Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) vs Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2), and Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux.

Saunders: I'll school Canelo and Golovkin

Billy Joe Saunders has vowed to “school” both Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez following his master-class WBO world middleweight title victory over David Lemieux in Montreal on Saturday night. Gennady Golovkin still eyeing possible move up to super-middleweight “if there is a big fight at 168”

Though he has a number of big fights to shoot for at middleweight, his current weight class, world ruler Gennady Golovkin says he is still looking at a potential move up eight pounds to the super-middleweight division. Speaking with ESPN Deportes, as quoted by RingTV.com, Triple-G says he would move up “if there is a big fight at 168.”

Fans are of course hoping, hoping, hoping that GGG will be able to get it on with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez in his next fight; so as the two best 160 pounders out there can finally settle their differences (no-one being happy with the drawn verdict that was handed in at the conclusion of September’s big fight). But if talks stall, or maybe after the fight has taken place, GGG could make that move up.
