It looks as if Kell “Special K” Brook will be making the 147 pound limit after all for his title defense against unbeaten 2012 U.S Olympian Errol Spence on May 27 at Bramall Lane, in Sheffield, England. With 21 days still to go before the HUGE fight, Brook is already down to 153 pounds and looks in fighting shape.

ESPN commentator Teddy Atlas is picking unbeaten Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. to deal IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) his second defeat of his career on May 27 at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England. Atlas gives the 27-year-old Spence a lot of credit in traveling over from the U.S to fight Brook in the “lion’s den” in the UK in front of his own British boxing fans, which could number as many as 32,000 by fight time.

A Box-Office offering here in the UK (on Sky Sports pay-per-view) the exciting Kell Brook-Errol Spence IBF welterweight title fight showdown would very likely have sold well and pulled in plenty of armchair fans on its own – just like the Joshua-Klitschko fight (which has been bumped up a little in price, going from the usual Sky Sports p-p-v fee of £16.95 to £19.95).

Eric M. (Bronx, NYC): Oscar De la Hoya said that he will take his offer off the table and change it for a potential clash between Canelo and Golovkin. Considering that GGG just won against Jacobs, why does that make sense if they truly want the fight?

Vito W.: I’m not quite sure why, but there’s a popular consensus out there that Oscar’s move was the wrong one. Personally, I think any other promoter in the sport would have made the same move if given the same set of circumstances. When Goldenboy Promotions extended the offer to Golovkin before, I felt it was a bit generous, considering that it was leaps and bounds above anything Golovkin could land anywhere else. Still, they justified the deal based on the growing pulse in the sport around his name. Not results. Simply the ‘buzz’. There was nothing in his resume that earned him a guarantee on the $10M+ level at any previous point.

Reigning and defending IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook will enjoy home town advantage when he meets his mandatory challenger Errol Spence Junior in May. But if Brook thinks the prospect of facing him in front of around 30,000 rabid Sheffield fans fazes Spence, he can think again – so says the unbeaten southpaw in speaking with Sky Sports.
