Frank Warren: Disappointed by Last Night's Dereck Chisora Effort

Queensbury promotions boss Frank Warren has admitted he was disappointed by heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora’s (22-5, 14ko) underwhelming 10 round decision over Brazilian journeyman Marcielo Nascimento (18-11, 16ko) last night, a fight that amounted to no more than a dull [televised]public workout for the former world title challenger in front of a partisan crowd at the SSE Arena.

It was Chisora’s second outing without long-time trainer Don Charles, whom he split from earlier this year, and he thoroughly failed to impress despite attempting a fast start against a fighter who was knocked out in 2 rounds by Chisora’s domestic rival Dillian Whyte in February.

Chudinov defeats Buglioni

In a predictable outcome, WBA “regular” super middleweight title holder Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) had little problems in beating an over-matched #4 WBA challenger Frank Buglioni (17-2-1, 13 KOs) by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision tonight at the Wemblay Arena in London, UK.

Dereck Chisora: Wants European Title Shot Against Teper / Middle Finger Gesture for Lucas Browne

Finchley heavyweight and former world title challenger Dereck Chisora (21-5, 14ko) has insisted that the fight he would like the most is against new EBU champion Erkan Teper(15-0, 10ko), (to whom he is mandatory) the man who recently knocked Liverpool’s David Price out cold in Germany inside two rounds.

Despite the giant Scouser’s recent misfortunes, “Del Boy” is predicting that he will be back at some point and is confident that he can beat Teper handily himself, though has expressed doubts the German really wants to fight him.

Dereck Chisora: "I Have a Choice of 3 Opponents – Teper, Jennings or Browne"

An interesting tweet appeared on former world title challenger Dereck Chisora’s (21-5, 14ko) twitter account this afternoon, embedded with a short video discussing his immediate future options, that according to the Finchley fighter are European heavyweight champion Erkan Teper, American world title challenger Bryant Jennings, or Australian heavyweight contender Lucas Browne.

Chisora, who blasted out Beka Lobjanidze with the first serious punch of their fight last month in London, said in the clip;

Dereck Chisora Set To Face Lucas Browne? / Wants Helenius or Teper

YouTube video
Last night saw the ring return of rejuvenated heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora, now split from long-time former trainer Don Charles, taking on Georgia’s Beqa Lobjanidze, who had been knocked out in 4 rounds by Brixton’s Dillian Whyte back in February.

It was a brief warm up for Chisora who had not been in the ring since he was soundly beaten last November by Tyson Fury, yet it took all of 30 seconds to shake off the rust and dispose of Lobjanidze with a clubbing overhand right in the 1st round that sent his foe crumpling helplessly to the canvas.

Chisora V Price? – Deal or No Deal?

Chisora V Price? - Deal or No Deal?

The rumours that have been gathering pace for some time in Britain regarding a potential summer fight between Finchley’s Dereck Chisora (20-5, 13ko) (who, incidentally has dropped the ‘c’ from his first name on twitter!) and Liverpool’s David Price (19-2, 16ko) may need to be put to bed after a social media exchange this afternoon between Chisora himself and Price’s promoters Sauerland Event, appeared to kill any hope fans had of the fight being made.

The saga began with a brief tweet from Kalle and Nisse Sauerland, regarding the proposed June 6th return of Price to the UK, and a potential showdown with Chisora. It read;

Price vs Chisora – The Perfect fight for both men?

Price vs Chisora – The Perfect fight for both men?

The UK heavyweight scene has seen some major ups and downs in the last few years. We have seen Chisora and Haye both challenge Klitschkos and lose and we could see another challenge from a UK fighter at some point, as Tyson Fury is now a WBO mandatory. Some fighters along the lines of David Price, Dereck Chisora and Audley Harrison in particular have really fallen off the map as of late after some upsetting defeats. >

David Price received his second consecutive knockout loss in the rematch to Tony Thompson in 2013 and showed that maybe he did not have the skill set to compete at the highest level of the fight game.

Fury vs. Chisora 2 Preview & Prediction

Boxing fans have plenty to be thankful for with a jam-packed holiday weekend which includes a return trip to Omaha on HBO Championship Boxing and a rematch across the pond between much hated Heavyweight rivals.

Let’s start with a rematch pitting Tyson Fury against Derrick Chisora at the ExCel Arena from Dockland, London. These two characters met over four years ago in a back and forth fight that saw Tyson Fury walk away victorious.

The combatants traded punches and rounds until somewhere in the middle the pace slowed to a crawl with both fighters gassed. Fury’s excessive holding and Chisora’s inactivity made for an uneven contest.
