by Joe Latti – Brick City Boxing – The 2015 Boxcino Tournament continues to impress, as this edition took Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA by storm on Friday, April 10th. The show was promoted by Arthur Pelullo’s Banner Promotions and broadcast live on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights on ESPN2. The semi-finals featured four-eight round bouts in the Jr. Middleweight and Heavyweight divisions, with the winners advancing to the 2015 Boxcino Finals on May 22, 2015 in Corona, CA.

Adams, Gasparyan, Thompson & Skorokhod Progress In ESPN Boxcino 154 lb Tournament

Brandon Adams, Vito Gasparyan, John Thompson and Stanyslav Skorokhod progressed to the ESPN Boxcino junior middleweight semi with wins in Friday Nights Quarter Finals at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, Connecticut.

In Quarter number 1, 25 year old Ukrainian Skorokhod (9-0, 7 kos) dominated southpaw Michael Moore (13-1, 6 kos) from Cleveland, Ohio, scoring a four round TKO.

Right hands did the trick. Moore was dropped 29 seconds into the third but survived as Skorkhod went for one big punch. It came in the fourth, a right hand around Moore’s high guard, with referee Mike Ortega stopping it at 1.03.

This Friday the 13th at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, ESPN presents the Quarterfinal rounds of its 2015 Super Welterweight Boxcino Tournament. In the main event Cleotis “Mookie” Pendarvis (17-4-2, 6 KO’s) of Los Angeles faces Ricardo Pinell (10-1-1, 6 KO’s) of San Francisco in a Northern vs. Southern California showdown. Brandon “The Cannon” Adams (15-1, 10 KO’s) also of Los Angeles goes toe to toe against New Jersey’s Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez (18-1, 10 KO’s).The Ukraine’s Stanyslav Skorokhod (8-0, 6 KO’s) takes on Cleveland, Ohio’s Michael Moore (13-0, 6 KO’s), and Vito “Casper” Gasparyan (14-3-5, 8 KO’s) squares off against Simeon “Candyman” Hardy (13-0, 10 KO’s).

The Boxcino Championship Tournaments are Back for 2015 on ESPN2

Last year ESPN2 aired the inaugural ‘2014 Boxcino Championship’ tournament for the 135 lb Lightweight and 160 lb Middleweight divisions. In the lightweight finals, Petr Petrov (35-4-2, 17 KO) of Madrid, Spain defeated Fernando Carcamo (17-6, 13 KO’s) of Ciudad Obregon, Mexico by TKO in round 8. In the middleweight finals, Willie Monroe Jr. (19-1, 6 KO) of Rochester, NY defeated then undefeated Brandon Adams (15-1, 10 KO) of Los Angeles, CA via unanimous decision.

Adams and Monroe Jr. win and earn spots in Boxcino Middleweight final

Brandon Adams and Willie Monroe Jr. each took home decision victories and punched their tickets to the finals of Boxcino 2014.

The finals will take place at the same venue as the semifinals, that being the Turning Stone Resort and Casino and is promoted by Banner Promotions and the semifinals were broadcast on ESPN 2.

The finals will take place on May 23 as will the lightweight finals that will feature Fernando Carcamo and Petr Petrov. Both bouts are scheduled for 10 rounds.

Adams scored an exciting 8-round split decision over Raymond Gatica while Monroe boxed his way to an 8-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Vitalii Kopylenko.
