Anthony Mundine speaks on bout with Shane Mosley: “I’ve Gotta Be On My A Game”

mundine1Three time world champion Anthony “The Man” Mundine (44-5, 26 KOs) spoke with ‘Radio Ringside’ on SEN 1116 in Melbourne, Australia on Monday night to discuss his upcoming bout with future hall of famer “Sugar” Shane Mosley (47-8-1, 39 KOs) later this year.

Since venturing to the United States for the first time in his career last July to take on Bronco McKart, Mundine has made it clear that each fight going forward is to be a major contest.
Since this point he has remained true to his vision, with his first fight after the McKart bout a rematch of his 2009 classic with countryman Daniel Geale, for Geale’s IBF middleweight title. The bout saw Geale victorious via unanimous decision this January, to even the ledger between the two at one apiece. But the defeat hasn’t deterred Mundine’s quest for supremacy and to fight the biggest names possible in the sport, with the announcement of his bout with Mosley last week reaffirming his plans outlined last year.

The wait is finally over as a mega fight heads for Australia. In Late October 2013 “The Legendary Fight of the Ages” takes place in Sydney, Australia. Two of the world’s most legendary fighters from two different continents face off in what should be one of the most blockbuster fights of our time. From the United States is “Sugar” Shane Mosley who is one greatest boxers of all time taking on the Australia Legend, Anthony Mundine. This match up shapes up to be one of the best fights in the history of boxing. Fans across the world will be treated to a battle which is truly a test of what champions are all about.

by Adam Santarossa: Anthony Mundine is the only fighter in history to have had all of his fights broadcast on PPV. The simple answer is Anthony Mundine equals money. Mundine reportedly made $700,000 from his boxing debut against Gerard Zohs way back in 2000. It was similar money to what he would have made only a year earlier for a full season with the St George/Illawarra Dragons.

Daniel Geale on the other hand would have been lucky to make a few thousand dollars from his debut fight, despite being a former Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist.

Anthony Mundine puts his USA dream on hold to fight WBA and IBF Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale!

By Brendan George: Just announced Anthony “The Man” Mundine 44-4 (26 KO’S) will take on WBA and IBF Middleweight Champion Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale 28-1(15 ko’s)in Australia January 2013.

This will be the second time the pair have fought after the first fight ended in a split decision win to Mundine in May 2009. While the venue and date are not confirmed the fight will take place around late January in Australia 2013.

Speaking to Anthony Mundine’s American Agent Brendan Bourke he had the following to say; “We had a great 2 fight deal on the table for Anthony to fight in Los Angeles as the main event November this year and February next year against two great opponents however we have put all that on hold to fight the WBA and IBF Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale in Australia.” Mr Bourke continued; “Anthony wants to fight the best and we agreed fighting Geale who has won the WBA and IBF titles represents the best opportunity available at the moment.”
