Boris, boxing is a game run by crooks for crazy masses. Bad decisions are here to stay just like alphabet titles that create an impression that threre are champions when the guys are just contenders but as long as there’s money to be made and a fan willing to part with it. Boxing as a game is here to stay along with it’s flaws.

Bradly didn’t do damn thing! The guy just came to survive and avoid a fight!

Without Steroids, Marquez is back to his old age of 40 with no power, no speed.

Posted October 15, 2013 11:29 am

Hiway To Mexico

Marquez clearly LOST to Bradley, but he still cried that he won. This man has NO SPORTSMANSHIP.

Also, Bradley had no SPORTSMANSHIP against Pacquiao because he didn’t admit his loss, too.

Posted October 15, 2013 11:27 am

Everytime Marquez loses, he and his coach CRY of Robbery. They cried and whined to get the 2nd fight, the 3rd fight and the 4th fight against Manny Pacquiao. Only Pacquiao gave Marquez that many chances to beat him; if Mayweather gave Marquez 4 chances, Marquez might have won 1-2 fights; if Bradley gives Marquez 4 chances, Marquez might have won 1-2. But, I doubt both Mayweather and Bradley will.

Also, everybody knew that Marquez was on STEROIDS when he fought Pacquiao in their 4th fight; Marquez increased millions of muscle cells from a typical Mexican body into a HULK in 6 months; double his power and speed. See, without Steroids in the Bradley fight, Marquez was back to his turtle speed with turtle power–he looked like a true 40-year-old turtle.

If you are gonna take my screen name you have to work a lot harder than this I simply NEVER write in that manner… Bradley lost to Pacquiao not Providnikov who he too PLENTY of rounds off despite him being in bad trouble on more than one occasion… Provodnikov lost period just as Marquez did… Game over NEXTTTTTT!

Yo!.. Enema!.. Still gulping down the Orlando Jizz-smoothies?.. Cruz was gulping from one end and being injected from the other but it made no difference.. Boy still ended up on his knees like Cotto and gagging on Salido’s wood… Did you console Orlando under your Junito-blanket afterwards?.. PR’s A-list fighters just can’t compete v. the best Mexican B-list fighters.. And they have nothing to compete v. Canelo, Garcia, Mares, or Santa Cruz… Btw, when is Garcia gonna grow a pair and challenge Canelo at 154lbs?!?… Just another PR weight CHEATER like Rosado fighting smaller guys and entering the ring as a F’n middleweight!?!..

Anyways back to the matter at hand, when will Bradley ever get his due in boxing. He didn’t buy the judges Arum did and his resume has more depth that the Klitschkos. The man comes in tip top shape everytime, fights his heart out and is still undefeated. Besides SRL admitting the judges fault at scoring the fight for him instead of Tommy Hearns I have yet to hear a boxer admit a gift decision and admit a loss that includes Ali, Chavez, Trinidad and Pac just a few a felt have had

Furthermore I believe dirty tactics have no place in the ring but I have no problems with retaliation( eye for an eye). I think Matthyse took too long to return the favour to Danny Garcia too as the ref was also too lenient in that bout too. The point was deducted far too late for it to have any barrings on the outcome of the fight and there was a moment where I felt he had a chance to turn the tide in those later rounds. Just saying Old Coot.

Posted October 14, 2013 11:12 am

Old Coot – I disagree, Ortiz was a youngster who clearly bit off more than he could chew. Floyd was avoiding his shots and pot shotting him with lead rights to the dome. Dirty Ortiz was missing a lot and made several attempts at headbutting Mayweather. The ref gave him a verbal warning earlier for headbutting but the youngster lost his cool again when he couldn’t take advantage of Mayweather in the corner and was missing again thus the deliberate headbutt, otherwise why would you headbutt someone you were successfully pounding on the ropes. The boy got what he deserved and that was the end of it. I think the occassion was just too big for Ortiz.

Posted October 14, 2013 11:05 am

PE- Agree, Cotto-Marquez would be nice, but Pac deserves the honor of retiring Marquez. Just make him sign for Olympic testing first.

Posted October 14, 2013 9:25 am

Since 2007 Bradley scored only one TKO, and that was against Casamayor in 2011. Casamayor was a blown up lightweight and it was his last fight… It’s ridiculous that Boxrec has him listed as #3 on their lb for lb list… He ain’t that good!

Posted October 14, 2013 9:19 am

You are right, Provodnikov did not beat Bradley, much better, he beat him up…

Posted October 14, 2013 9:01 am

You are probably right, Cotto vs. Martinez is probably going to take place…. By the way, I believe in the amateurs Desert Whiff fought at 160…

Posted October 14, 2013 8:40 am

Privodnikov did NOT beat Bradley, he put him thru a crazy war but his lack of stamina and Bradley’s willingness to die in the ring got him the bout…Cotto and Bradley are not gonna fight, Migeuls discussing 160 pounders and Bradley has no business at 154 he’s a small welterweight with no power at 154 he’d get steamrolled..

Posted October 14, 2013 8:34 am

Cotto would beat Bradley, he has all it takes to get the job done against a fighter who is limited in all he can do. Cotto can move, has speed, power, can punch combinations. Styles make fights. PAC took a night off against Bradley and Marquez just got old overnight. And Provodnikov beat Bradley! Bradley is a runner like Mayweather*, who has far superior skill and power. Cotto vs Bradley will definitely happen if Bradley vs. PAC does not take place or after Bradley gets beat by Manny. Mayweather* vs. Bradley would be a terrible match up and should be forbidden. Fortunately, it will never happen…

Posted October 14, 2013 8:19 am

Now you’re predicting that Cotto would be too strong for Bradley, man, you really suck badly.

Posted October 14, 2013 6:44 am

SREDMOND, all that is ok but don’t make any prediction because you suck at it.

Posted October 14, 2013 6:38 am

Can’t believe people are still trying to act like that piece of s__t Ortiz was hard done by for being sucker punched.
First off, the guy was a pinata in that fight. He only started trying to bully in his final round and he was missing just about every punch anyway (hence his TWO attempts at headbutts). The fight was not competitive at all.

Headbutts are the dirtiest foul you can commit in the ring (aside from obvious ones like loading gloves). The victim has a massive risk of being cut, and the scar tissue that forms stays for life… the skin isn’t as elastic and is at higher risk of opening back up in future fights. Literally, when you headbutt, you’re not just effecting the fight at hand, but potentially every fight in the victim’s future.

So Ortiz deserved the sucker punch and frankly he also deserved a kick in the head when he went down. He got desperate because he couldn’t compete and turned into a dirty dog.
Anyone who is sympathizing with him is condoning his actions.

Posted October 14, 2013 6:28 am

Old Coot !!! That’s what Oriz gets for head butting

Posted October 14, 2013 6:02 am

Blah Blah Blah, when the smoke cleared Cotto was banged up and discussing how hard it was to tag Mayweather in his dressing room… Miguel gave a terrific effort but clearly lost against Floyd… The obsession with someone finally beating Mayweather is wild, fact is the man will never have known defeat as a prime fighter… He’s gonna be 37 and his legacy is rock solid at this point….

Posted October 14, 2013 5:17 am

Bradley deserves a shot at Floyd. Please don’t let chump Amir Khan get a shot. He does not deserve it and is NO match for Floyd. There would be no point watching Khan v Mayweather. Here’s how the commentary would go: “Khan throws a flurry, and another and another … but he’s only hitting Floyd’s gloves and arms … another flurry, more flurries, so fast, lots of flurries, but they’re all hitting Floyd’s arms and gloves … Floyd counters with a straight right .. Khan is down … he staggers to his feet too quickly, as usual, and does his famous funky chicken dance across the ring, his legs are rubber, his eyes are glazed, it wasn’t a big punch but hey it’s Khan’s chin remember … the referee does the count and allows the action to continue … Khan runs, holds, spoils, pushes, tries the elbow, the head, everything to stay upright, but his funky chicken legs are still with him … Floyd clips him … it’s Bambi on ice again and this time Khan goes down and is out for the count … the fight lasted two rounds … Khan pockets $6m and announces his retirement, laughing his head off that he managed to get this unworthy shot at Mayweather in the first place ….” Adios.

Posted October 14, 2013 3:52 am

@ Happyboy: I respectfully disagree, and humbly suggest you watch both, Mayeather VS Cotto and his Ortiz fight again.

Against Cotto, Miguel had the hand-speed, chin, foot-speed, power and punch output rate, to take Floyd’s shots, and still make him uncomfortable enough to PUSH and make him retreat to the ropes, then tag Floyd with more shots than any previous opponent, save the first Castillo fight…

Now as for Ortiz, he did pretty much the same, but you are correct that he did not land as cleanly as Cotto. But Ortiz was landing some on the ropes to and had faster hands and feet than Cotto… In light of those observations, I’m only saying the fact that Victor could bully Floyd is the reason I think, Floyd took saw and took any opportunity to end the fight early, rather than take Ortiz’ relentless bullying for twelve rounds… So Floyd basically sucker-punched and KO’d what was essentially a man trying to apologize with no arms because they were at his sides, and he was looking at Referee Cortez and NOT at Floyd…

One other thing that irks me… Floyd and his fans love to use the “protect yourself at all times” dodge to conveniently excuse and justify Floyd’s shady non-win, that totally unbecoming any champion of Mayweather’s caliber… And Floyd knows too!… I mean why do you think he got so defensive with old Larry Merchant, for simply doing his job, by asking Floyd what even some of own Floyd’s fans were doubtlessly thinking, concerning this KO? It’s because Floyd knew Merchant was dead-on point, that in sucker punching Ortiz, Floyd looked more like a petty fight thief and not a respectable boxing champion.

Posted October 14, 2013 3:24 am

Old Coot – Floyd was less mobile vs Cotto and sat on the ropes more thats why Cotto looked more successful than the rest. Ortiz was getting tagged lall day and was not getting hold of Mayweather thus the final headbutt but Ortiz proved with several attempeted headbutts that he didn’t belong in the same stage as Floyd and got what he deserved which was a sucker punch and the best payday of his life.

In addition to giving him his well-earned props, I’m also grateful to Bradley’s for outclassing Marquez, thus further validating my often laughed at, and frowned upon opinion that Marquez ONLY excels against “warriors”, who are willing to come in, stay in, and allow him to counter-punch them so effectively. Such as Pacquiao. Otherwise, Juan is just a good fighter… But we see what happens when he fights those who are simply not willing to be countered… Such as Bradley or Mayweather… Marquez scores a near ZERO!!!

Which also validates my opinion that Mayweather, was unexpectedly and unpleasantly surprised at how Cotto was able to get to him too often for his usual comfort. So now we have seen the Floyd will use his pull to only fight anyone (such as Marquez, Guerrero, or Alvarez types of fighters) In other words, ONLY those who don’t have the leg and foot speed, and agility, or the know-how to simply come and get Floyd without pause, without fear, without tiring and who will make Floyd miss more than usual; take all his best shots, and STILL chase him down to nail him with hard punches in bunches… Sort of like Cotto tried pretty well to do, however, he didn’t quite possess the hand and foot speed nor stamina to finish Floyd off, like say for instance, a Pacquiao, or perhaps even Bradley could…

So of course Floyd will continue to concoct every excuse known or yet invented, to duck Pacquiao, in particular. As well a to avoid a rematch with Cotto… And EVEN a rematch with Victor Ortiz… Which, in my opinion Floyd still owes the kid one.

Is a punch scored on impact or effect of the impact?

Posted October 14, 2013 1:46 am

Why should the decision on who won & lost be open to debate when we all watched the same thing and know the same rules. Why can’t this nonsense be laid to rest so we can all just agree on one outcome. I have seen bad scores from way in the day in international bouts and even local fights. One thing is guaranteed is we never agree. Hell Pac walked into a right hand from Marquez and took a snooze but hecdog is still crying about MarPeds yet Marquez is nicknamed Dinamita and has a higher KO ratio than Pac with the same no.of fights.

Cottos too strong for Bradley, I seriously doubt Tims people would put him in that position… He has nothing to keep Cotto at bay…
Marquez lost this fight it’s pretty says to see, I have rarely (only against Floyd) seen him so inaccurate, sadly JMM despite his Greatness has cried foul so many times it’s impossible to take his claims seriously… Marquez while waiting to counter often loses rounds and it’s part of his fight game that’s both part of his success and part of his difficulties…

Clearly, Bradley has no punch. I think that Marquez’ face was hurt more by Beristain rubbing Vaseline on his face all fight long rather than by Bradley’s punches…

KO rates in % (welterweights):
Bradley 37
Marquez 63
Pacquiao 62
Cotto 73
Mosley 68
Mayweather* 58
Maidana 83
Alexander 53

Reading everybody’s comments, it is clear to me that boxing is all about nuthugging, win or lose it does not really matter, a lot is debatable even in an official loss. It’s like debating on wine tastes or cars. It’s all subjective despite box stats. Ok, here we go, let’s compare fighters to cars. Here is my view on Welterweights:

Pacquiao – Ferrari
Cotto – BMW
Bradley – Volvo
Marquez – Mercedes
Mayweather* – Cadillac

Say it was really close, but I thought I won… and leave it at that. It was hardley impressive IMO,i actually thought Marquez should have been given a close decision. Bradley just didn’t do enough, and he was the one that got tagged with the harder punches and could care less if he was rolling with the punches,he was still getting hit!

B-Red PAC fought Cotto at 147 actual contract was 145 for Cotto so why would Bradley fight him at 150 or 152? PAC would not have beat Cotto at 150 period and neither could Bradley 145 different story Cotto is drained no stamina you could beat him. At that weight.

bradley punches in a pity pat style and did not win impressively i would have been happy if it was called a draw

you just would have been happy if Bradley lost, even if he knocked Marquez out you would say for some reason he should have been disqualified.

I like Bradley because he does something that is hard to do at the level he is fighting, and that is to win. He’s been taking the tough fights and winning what more can you ask for. Boxing fans can’t appreciate a real boxer/fighter whne they see one. Pacquioa as great as he was, was against fighters at catch weight to have an advantage. Bradley hasn’t done that yet and hopefully he wont.

Posted October 13, 2013 7:50 pm

Styles make fights. when you put a slick boxer in with a counterpuncher nines times out of ten it is going to be more of a chess match than an exciting fight. If Provodnikov beats Alvarado he should get a rematch with TM. It would be another great fight no matter who wins. Same thing with FM. when he fights boxers he outclasses them so badly it’s boring. He needs to fight an aggressive pressure fighter with a good chin. That will make for a very entertaining fight. My opinion anyway.

Posted October 13, 2013 7:50 pm

As I’ve been saying before the fight…. to beat Marquez, Bradley has to fight Marquez using the Cuban-Style of boxing fashion and he did. It is also my view that Marquez can’t beat good slick boxer who boxes during the fight. Bradley made Marquez looked ordinary. The Bradley legend continues….

I don`t like him but I have to give props to Tim Bradley for taking tough fights and finding a way to win them (well not the Pacman one).

He works hard, he’s always in shape, he tries to entertain sometimes with his slugging and pressure, I feel like I SHOULD like him, but I don`t.

I think a chunk of the reason for this is that while he is very very competent in a wide range of areas, he isn`t elite in any particular one. With some fighters, their class is just stamped on everything they do, with Bradley it isn`t.

When he fights I get the feeling I am watching his opponents weakness come to the fore – Alexander being a crybaby, JMM letting himself be outworked etc rather than watching something great from Bradley – as though he makes someone else underperform rather than he himself performing.

Perhaps I am just being unfair to him. I`d like to see him in with Pacman again to clean that up before he gets any Mayweather shot.

If you check out the after fight conference, TB was in a wheel chair and wearing sun glasses. Pac was scratchless. So ya, Pac did destroy TB.

So Bradley won a close yet fair decision this time and Marquez calls robbery. This is why deluded boxers and fans are a hindrance to the sport’s credibility: When you cry robbery when it wasn’t, all it does is dilute the outrage when true, legit robberies occur. There’s plenty of them to choose from. Also Marquez comes off as a poor sport. It’s a lose-lose approach he’s taken.

Hecdog stated, referring to Bradley “he has no business fighting Mayweather or Pacquiao. Both will destroy him.”

First of all, Pac did not destroy Bradley the first time around. What make you think he’ll be able to do it on a rematch? If anything, I’ll say he’ll beat Pac for sure a second time around. As for Floyd, he’ll for sure outbox Bradley, but won’t hurt him. The fight will go the distance for sure and Bradley would have his moments.

As for those who don’t want to give credit to Bradley for out boxing Marquez, let’s not forget who the favorite to win this fight was…it wasn’t Bradley for sure.

I have to agree with all of that, but Bradley might pull a few more trick out of his hat for Mayweather. His speed and foot work might be just the thing to give Mayweather more fits than Cotto.

Let me set the record straight for any Marquez fans who thought this was a close fight and their man got robbed. Plain and simple this fight was not close. Bradley won nine of twelve rounds and schooled Marquez all night. Marquez waited all night to counter Bradley and the opportunity never came. Bradley was prepared and Marquez had no answers. Bradley is a very good fighter who is getting his due after receiving an absurd gift against Pacquiao.

Posted October 13, 2013 3:40 pm

JMM did not do enough, he waited too long. Sometimes being a counter puncher bites you in the ass. Tim had a good plan and got the W. JMM should have pressed alot more but seemed to just be going through the motions and it cost him.

Posted October 13, 2013 2:54 pm

No doubt marquez and beristain don’t know how to accept defeat. It was obvious he can’t do damage against tim. The fight was not close as the fight with barrera which should have gone the other way.

Posted October 13, 2013 2:44 pm

Officially, Bradley is an undefeated champion.

In reality, every boxing fan believes that Bradley has at least 1 lost (Pacquiao) and many fans believe Bradley has 2 losses (Pacquiao and Provodnikov).

The victory over Marquez was solid — but only in that the margin of victory was slightly more than his margin of victory against Provodnikov.

Bradley vs. Marquez was a close fight. It was not a huge validation of Bradley as a hall of famer. Bradley did not dominate Marquez. It was a close fight.

Bradley deserves credit for fighting a good close fight against a Hall of Fame fighter (Marquez) but I am not ready to say Bradley is an all time great. That is silly. Bradley is a midget welterweight. Guys like Hearns and Leonard would beat Bradley easily. Guys like Duran would beat Bradley.

Not sure what those other 2 judges were seeing, but I had it 115-113 for Marquez. He was the aggressor and Bradley was just pit pattering all night. Some of these judges need their eyes checked….another could of CJ Ross’s in the works?

Timothy Bradley won a deserving victory lat night. He’ a very good fighter, but he has no business fighting Mayweather or Pacquiao. Both will destroy him. You have to give him props though. He’ tough a nails and always gives 100%. I he deerving of a big pay day? Yes, he comes to fight. His best move would be to give Manny Pacquiao a rematch once Manny pulverizes a tough Brandon Rios. And Ped Man Marquez can go on whining, crying, and acting like a 5 year old having a tantrum. He sets a horrible example for being a successful athlete. The Peds didn’t work or Angel decided to change the mix after Ped Man Marquez had his roid rage towards Angel during his final workouts. Ped Man Marquez should just go away now and retire. His hiring Angel Hereida, and his immature childish attitude have done his image and boxing a disservice. Now we can all wait for Manny Pacquiao’ triumphant return. The world awaits a classy, honorable, respectful boxing champion to capture the world’s attention. Get ready people, Manny Pacquiao is back.
