News: Mitchell looking forward to Burns clash; Fury-Maddalone on Saturday

Kevin Mitchell says he more excited to be facing World Boxing Organization (WBO) World Lightweight Champion Ricky Burns than if he was matched with hot babe Kelly Brook. Promoter Frank Warren has made one of the best fights of the year, pitching the English and Scottish rivals at the SECC in Glasgow on Saturday 22nd September and Mitchell is really fired-up for the Battle of Britain.

“I was over the moon when Frank made the fight between me and Burns, it’s the fight I’ve been desperate for and I know Burns has really wanted it, the fans have wanted it and so have the media, so it’s a dream that it’s finally on now,” said Mitchell.

“Frank’s the best promoter out there and he knows when the time is right to make the big fights and he’s made a blinder sticking me and Ricky together now, it’s going to be a right war between us, the best you’ll see this year,”

“If Frank had said to me it’s a choice between a date with Kelly Brook or a world title fight against Burns on September 22nd then it’s Burns all day long, that how excited it has got me!”

The Dagenham Destroyer met head-to-head today with Burns in Glasgow and is confident of pulling of an upset in the champion’s home town.

He added, “The Scottish fans are great and I know that they really love their sport and will be backing their world champion one hundred percent,”

“When I enter the ring on the night I know that it’s going to be a hot cauldron of Burns fans all screaming for their man, but it’s going to motivate me to pull off a stunning victory in his backyard,”
