Video: “King” James De la Rosa faces Tyrone Brunson on ESPN’s FNF

By Adrian Hernandez: On March 23rd, 24 year old Welterweight prospect “King” James De la Rosa (20-1, 12 KOs) expects to make a lasting impression when he squares off against knock-out artist Tyrone Brunson (21-1-1, 20 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA, on ESPN 2’s Friday Night Fights.

The two 140 pound fighters are scheduled to go head to head in this week’s co-main event of the evening, taking place at the Pharr Convention Center located in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

The Mexican born boxer/puncher isn’t too worried about performing in front of the large audience of a nationally televised event. De la Rosa is more concerned with taking out his opponent on March 23rd.

“I know this fight is on TV, but I’m not going to let that idea bother me,” states “King” James De La Rosa. “Most fighters try to look impressive for the TV instead of trying to be impressive for themselves first. I’ve fought on television before, so it’s no big deal. I’m just worried about impressing myself and my team in this comeback fight and silencing the critics, as well as getting back on the road to the top.”

De la Rosa was upset in 2011 by Allen Conyers when he fought on the undercard of the Tim Bradley/Devon Alexander event at the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, MI.

The talented young fighter can’t wait to get back in the win column.

“I learned a lot from my loss last year,” claims De La Rosa. “It really matured me. The fight starts here in the gym. If you do good work in the gym and perfect your fight game, it will show in the ring on fight night. On Friday night, you will see a new James De Le Rosa.”

Tyrone Brunson (21-1-1, 20 KOs) and James De la Rosa (20-1, 12 KOs)will be featured in the 8 round co-main event as part of an evening of live boxing from the Rio Grande Valley of TX at the Pharr Convention Center in Pharr, TX.

In the main event of the evening, Antwone Smith (21-3-1, 12 KOs) of Miami, FL, will take on Roberto Garcia (30-3, 21 KOs) in a Junior Middleweight special event.

The two bouts will be featured on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights on March 23rd, 2012.
