Ricky Burns will be going in blind against former world champion Paulus Moses at the Braehead Arena on Saturday 10th March.
The Scottish star hasn’t watched any footage of his Namibian challenger in the build up and says he will figure him out on the night in the ring.
Burns, who makes the first defence of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) World Lightweight title, opened up his gym in to the media today to show how preparations are going in the countdown to Saturday.
The fight will televised live and exclusive on the New Undisputed Home Of Boxing BoxNation (Sky Ch. 456/Virgin Ch. 546).
“The first time I will have seen Moses in action is when we swap punches in the ring on the night,” said Burns.
“I haven’t seen a thing on him, I don’t want to watch him at all, I’ve left it to my trainer Billy Nelson who has watched all his fights and figured out the strategy to beat him,”
“I never like to watch my opponents before the fight so I just leave it to Billy,”
“A lot of it I will work-out when I’m in the ring with Moses. Some people will be shocked by this, but it works for me.”
Mosses, known as the Hitman, has nailed 10 of his 19 knockout victims inside three rounds, but this doesn’t worry Burns.
“I’ve been in the ring with big punchers and beaten them, Roman Martinez and Michael Katsidis more recently,”
“If I was worried about being hit I wouldn’t have taken up boxing,”
“I’m just going to stick to my game plan that I’ve worked out with Billy and beat this guy.”
