Berto vs. Ortiz, Lopez vs. Salido tonight

MASHANTUCKET, CT (April 16, 2011) – Tonight’s “East-West Showdown” world title fight between unbeaten rising star, World Boxing Council (“WBC”) Welterweight Champion Andre Berto, and rugged, WBC No. 5-rated challenger “Vicious” Victor Ortiz, featured in the 12-round main event live on HBO World Championship Boxing from MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods, has drawn media attention from coast-to-coast.

Juanma and Salido Make Weight in Advance of WBO Featherweight Championship TONIGHT!

EDMONTON (April 16, 2011) – The four fighters who will compete in an eagerly awaited SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING doubleheader tonight/Saturday, April 16, live in Canada only on SUPER CHANNEL courtesy of SHOWTIME® at 10:30PM E.T made weight on Friday.

Undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez (30-0, 27 KOs) will defend against former International Boxing Federation (IBF) 126-pound boss Orlando Salido (34-11-2, 22 KOs) in the main event.

In the co-feature, unbeaten Luis Cruz (17-0, 14 KOs) meets world-ranked Martin “El Brochas’’ Honorio (29-5-1, 15 KOs) in a 10-round junior lightweight bout.

Weights: Juanma weighed 125 pounds, one under the division limit; Salido weighed 126. Cruz tipped scale at 129 3/4 pounds; Honorio 131.
