Mendez-Loya on April 1

CHICAGO, IL (March 21, 2011) Chicago’s Genaro Mendez will battle Javier Loya of Phoenix, Arizona in a special feature attraction undercard bout at WINDY CITY FIGHT NIGHT 16 at the UIC Pavilion on Friday, April 1st.

Presented by Chicago’s 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING, the April 1st event is headlined by a stellar main event featuring Chicagoland fan favorite Donovan “Da Bomb” George battling Maxell “The General” Taylor of Baltimore, MD, in a scheduled twelve round clash for the vacant USBA Super Middleweight Title.

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions about the Mendez/Loya bout, “It’s a credit to both of these young, unbeaten warriors that they’re fighting each other. There was no picking or choosing from either guy. Genaro said ‘bring it on’ immediately and Javier’s answer when we called was ‘When does my plane leave for Chicago’?

“I have no doubt that fans are in for a real old-fashioned four round war with these prospects, just the type of fight we love putting on our shows.”

Mendez, 3-0-1 (2KO’s), has fought all four of his professional bouts at the UIC Pavilion. After winning his first three starts, the former Chicago Golden Gloves winner showed the heart of a lion as he battled St. Louis’ Keandre Gibson to an action packed, crowd pleasing four round draw on January 28th.

With a similar record of 3-0-0 (3KO’s), Loya will be fighting away from home for the first time in the paid ranks. The heavy handed Loya is coming off a second round stoppage of Gabriel Garcia on November 20th in Phoenix.

The action packed undercard at WINDY CITY FIGHT NIGHT 16 also includes all-action attraction Adrian “EL TIGRE” Granados, 5-0-0 (3KO’s).

Rounding out the undercard is undefeated Chicago prospect, middleweight Ramon Valenzuela, 3-0-0 (1KO) along with Rockford based brothers; junior middleweight “BAZOOKA” Joe Linenfelser, 8-1-1 (6KO’s) and super featherweight Anthony ‘The American Assassin” Linenfelser, 2-0-0 (2KO’s) in separate bouts.
