Manchester, NH – NESportsTV.com presents its first online PPV of autumn with a tripleheader featuring three of the top prospects in the United States. Former two time national amateur champion Edwin Rodriguez (16-0, 12 KO’s) puts his undefeated record on the line against Rockford, Illinois’ Skyler Thompson (11-7, 9 KO’s) in a super middleweight fight, 2008 United States Olympian Demetrius Andrade (10-0, 7 KO’s) also puts his unbeaten record on the line against Cincinnati’s Dave Saunders (9-9, 6 KO’s) in a junior middleweight bout and 2008 Olympic alternate “Irish” Danny O’Connor (12-0, 3 KO’s) takes on Puerto Rico’s Jose Angel Roman (11-26, 5 KO’s.).
Worcester’s Edwin Rodriguez has been making waves on the national scene this year looking impressive in victories on ESPN and Showtime over Kevin Engel and George Armenta, defeating both by knockout. He also owns victories over durable journeyman Darnell Boone and Marcus Upshaw. Rodriguez is promoted by Lou Dibella. He most recently headlined in his hometown in front of over 1200 of his fans scoring a 5th round TKO over Ibrahiem King..
Providence’s Demetrius Andrade has been a highly touted prospect since turning pro after the Olympics in 2008. He’s consistently been featured on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights and in 2009, earned a decision victory over the previously unbeaten Chris Chatman in a fight hailed as “New England Fight of the Year” by 8countnews.com and by The Providence Fight Sports Examiner on Examiner.com.
Andrade’s opponent, Dave Saunders, has been in the ring with noteworthy fighters such as Hector Camacho Jr., Henry Coyle and Troy Rowland.
Framingham (Massachusetts’s) Danny O’Connor will be returning to the venue where he made his pro debut for his fight against Jose Angel Roman. A slick southpaw, O’Connor has been dazzling New England audiences with his boxing ability since turning pro following the 2008 Olympics. Though O’Connor was an alternate for the United States during the games, he holds an amateur victory over the Dominican Republic’s Felix Diaz, the eventual Gold medal winner in his weight class. His opponent, Roman, has fought and gone the distance with former world title challenger Elvin Ayala, prospect Antwone Smith and Ed Paredes.
Also appearing on the PPV is undefeated junior welterweight Diego Pereira (5-0, 2 KO’s), a Pawtucket, Rhode Island resident trained by Peter Manfredo Sr., and the pro debuting junior lightweight Dan Powers.
These fights are a part of “The Fight to Educate”, an annual boxing event held in Manchester, New Hampshire to benefit The Bobby Stephen Fund for Education, and other local non-profit organizations.
In past years, prospects such as Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillen, Ronald Hearns and former world title challenger Omar Sheika have all fought on this show. Just last year, journeyman Shawn McLean, who entered with a record of 3-4, scored a 4th round TKO over Faruq Saleem, who entered with a record of 38-0, with 32 KO’s, proving that no undefeated fighters perfect record is safe at “The Fight to Educate”.
