IOWA CITY, IA (August 12, 2010) Advance tickets are now on sale for NO EXCUSES, an evening of world class professional boxing and amateur muay thai set for Friday, August 27th at the Johnson County 4-H Fairgrounds in Iowa City.
Starting at $25 for general admission, tickets can be purchased at Sushi Kicchin in the Iowa City Old Capitol Mall and by calling 319-338-1633.
Featured in separate bouts at NO EXCUSES will be sisters and Iowa City fan favorites Emily “The Enforcer” Klinefelter and Katy “The Dream” Klinefelter.
The 26-year-old Emily brings a record of 7-0-0 (2 KOs) into battle. She is coming off a sensational performance against Kerri Hill on May 1st, taking a six-round unanimous decision.
Younger sister Katy, 22 years old, has amassed an undefeated record of 5-0-0 (3 KOs) since turning professional two years ago. On May 1st, the University of Iowa student stopped Lucretia Meacham in the second round at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.
Also featured in a four-round welterweight bout will be Cedar Rapids’ Dan “The Man of War” Almeida, 1-0-0 (1 KO), facing pro debuting Adrian McMullen of Washington, Iowa.
Almeida impressed the Johnson County Fairgrounds crowd in his pro debut on May 1st with a devastating second-round knockout of Nick Quangvang.
Other boxers featured on the undercard include Des Moines’ Andy Branson, Ottumwa’s Robbie Adamson, Cedar Rapids’ Jerry “Ruffhouse” Simpson, and Ottumwa’s Jeremy Marts, Florida’s former National Jr. Golden Gloves Champion Bobby The Prodigy” Bryant, the King B.I.G., and pro debuting George Carter Jr. and Nebraska’s former National Jr. Olympic Champion John Determan.
The amateur muay thai bouts will feature Iowa City’s Alex Schwabe, Cody Mixon, Shane Burtzlaff and Justin Janus, all of whom are University of Iowa students. Other fighters featured on the amateur muay thai portion include Dante Jamal and Damien Roth of Iowa City, as well as Fort Madison’s Ryne Vincent, Cedar Rapids’ Elijah Rivera and Ottumwa’s Adam Gates, recently having won a Ringside Title.
