Former Junior Welterweight champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris has been medically cleared to fight after collapsing from an accidental head butt in his last outing. On August 14, in Tucson, AZ, Harris collapsed about 90 seconds into the 2nd-round after clashing heads with Noe Balanos in a bout that was shown live on ESPN. After taking a knee, Harris got to his feet, but then collapsed after walking to his corner. The 31-year-old Harris was taken to a nearby hospital for observation and was given a precautionary CAT scan that came back negative.. He was released from the hospital around midnight. After returning to his home in Carlstadt, NJ, Harris visited his neurologist as a further precaution.
“I’m OK. All the tests came back negative. My health is my number one concern so I made sure I took all the necessary medical precautions before I resume fighting. “Harris said. “Unfortunately these types of things happen but I’m back in the gym, and I look forward to fighting again before the end of the year.”
Harris, who recently signed with Golden Boy Promotions, is determined to work his way back to a title shot in the talent-filled 140 lb-division.

SOUTHHAVEN, Miss. (August 28, 2009) – Once-beaten heavyweight prospect “Gentleman” Chazz Witherspoon (25-1, 17 KOs), the 2004 National Golden Gloves champion, wants to match his cousin “Terrible” Tim Witherspoon’s major accomplishment as heavyweight champion of the world.
Witherspoon, whose only loss in 26 pro fights was last year to world title challenger Chris Arreola. Witherspoon, a Philadelphia fighter, started boxing to stay in shape when he was a sophomore at St. Joseph’s University, where he graduated from in 2004 with a degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing. His cousin, Tim, first got him involved in the sweet science and Chazz went on to post a 26-6 amateur record, including the aforementioned 2004 National Golden Gloves Tournament title, in addition to being a 2004 Team USA Olympic alternate.
In 2004, Chazz turned pro and he won his first 23 fights going into a showdown against undefeated Arreola, who floored Witherspoon twice in round three, once at the bell, that led to a controversial stoppage. Chazz beat the referee’s count but since his cornerman stood on the ring apron during the count, Witherspoon was disqualified. He has since rebounded with two straight wins going into Saturday night’s throw-down with Frazier.
The 6-round co-feature showcases junior middleweight Shawn Porter (9-0, 7 KOs), 2007 World Golden Gloves champion and 2008 U.S. OIympic Team alternate, who meets Lamar Harris (6-2, 4 KOs).

20-year old southpaw Luis Ramos Jr. (11-0, 6 KO’s) from Santa Ana, California, and compiled 120 wins as an amateur, and as a pro he’s been treating his fans to even more thrills. Paramount, California’s Charles Huerta (11-1, 7 KO’s) is never in a boring fight and that style has garnered him an impressive group of followers since he turned pro in 2007.
