The “Nordic Nightmare” Robert Helenius (8-0, 4 KOs) will return to the ring on August 29 when he takes on Serdar Uysal (9-7, 4 KOs) on the undercard of the WBO Cruiserweight title fight between Victor Emilio Ramirez and Marco “Captain” Huck. The Scandinavian heavyweight hopeful comes off a spectacular win in Helsinki where he knocked out experienced Scott Gammer in May. “Everything worked to perfection that night,” Helenius said. “Beating a strong opponent like Gammer at such an early stage of my career has given me an additional boost. On August 29 I will continue where I left it..”
Helenius was originally scheduled to box on Team Sauerland´s first-ever fight night in Denmark on September 12. However, with his fiancée Sandra expecting to give birth to the couple’s second child, Helenius said it was impossible to find the right focus. “I might be a nightmare in the ring, but outside the ring, I am just a normal family guy and a dad,” he stated. “I would have loved to fight in Herning on the Kessler-Perdomo card but of course I have to support my wife. I could not have focused 100 percent on boxing.”
Helenius´ preparation for the fight at the Gerry Weber Stadion has been going well despite some late-night shifts. “Our first daughter Chillie is 18 months old and she does not always sleep the whole night. Sandra needs to rest, so I have to look after Chillie at nights. It took me a while to get used to getting less sleep than normal but it does not hurt my performance in practice. Everything is going fine. I have worked hard on my conditioning in the last couple of months and I am pleased with the progress. It has been 15 months since I turned professional and I am very happy with my development. I want to improve with every fight and I am sure I will beat Uysal in Halle.”

Featured at “BRAWL AT THE HALL”, will be undefeated, heavyweight prospect, Jason “BIG DADDY” Massie from Cleveland’s West Side Boxing Club. The well known and controversial Elecia “MEGA” Battle will take part in a Women’s lt. heavyweight bout. And the professional debut of sensational, middleweight prospect, the “FIGHTING PRIDE OF LORAIN” Wilkins Santiago.
Heavyweight phenom Stipe Miocic (2009 Golden Gloves National Semifinalist) will take part in a special attraction amateur bout.

In a rematch by public demand, Cleveland native Justin Riegle steps back into the ring with Erie PA’s Rocky Mullooly. Their first fight at the 24th annual Erie Boxing Classic was a wild one. Mullooly pounded Riegle and had him out on his feet for most of the first 3 rounds. Riegle mounted a courageous comeback and took advantage of a winded Mullooly, to score a technical knockout at 1minute, 50 seconds of the 4th and final round. The rematch is scheduled for 4 rounds in the heavyweight class.
In a bout that’s being billed as Boxing vs. MMA, former Cleveland Golden Gloves Champion, Matt Keglovic, who trains at the Alta House Rec Center, in Cleveland’s Little Italy, takes on Donny “EAGLE EYE” Walker from Mentor, OH. Walker, an accomplished mixed martial artist, is the head boxing instructor for the Griffonrawl MMA Academy, and is the Gladiators Fight Series Lightweight Champion. The fight is scheduled for 4 rounds in the middleweight class.
An exciting undercard featuring other top regional talent is scheduled, including middleweight Shane Gierke, heavyweight Brian Cook, MMA fighter John “MONGOOSE” Myers, and the debuting Randy Campbell at lt. heavyweight.

ZOLANI MARALI VS. JI-HOON KIM HEADLINES CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT CARD ON SEPT. 12 IN KEMPTON PARK, SOUTH AFRICA; TELEVISED ON SUPERSPORT
Rodney Berman’s Golden Gloves and Arthur Pelullo’s Banner Promotions will present a sensational championship fight card on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at Emperors Palace, located at 64 Jones Street in Kempton Park, South Africa. All bouts will be televised live on Supersport starting at 8:00 P.M. local time.
In the main event scheduled for 12 rounds, Zolani “Untouchable” Marali, 20-2 with 13 knockouts, of Mdantsane, South Africa, will make his first defense of the IBO junior lightweight world title against “Sensational Kid” Ji-Hoon Kim, 16-5 with 13 knockouts, of Goyang City, South Korea.
The 32 year-old Marali, a five-foot, 11-inches tall lefthander, won the vacant IBO title in his last fight in April, 2009, with a 12 round unanimous decision against Gamaliel Diaz. He is also a former IBO junior featherweight champion and two-time South African junior featherweight champion.
Kim, just 22 years old, stands five-foot, nine-inches tall and has an exciting style in the ring. He has now won eight fights in a row, seven by knockout, since his last loss in July, 2006. A former Korean featherweight champion, he made an impressive U.S. debut in May, 2008, with a first-round TKO win against 1996 Olympian Koba Gogoladze in Las Vegas.
