News: Tinley Park Rumble Results; Linton vs Ikeke; Cestus Fighters on the rise

June 15 (Merrillville, In) – Welterweight Ed “2 Fast 2 Furious” Ochoa (9-0, 8 KOs) answers the call in his brutal six-round unanimous decision victory (58-55, 58-56, 59-54) over very tough Jesse Davis (11-13, 8 KOs) in the main event after the original and volatile main event of Michael “Midnight Stalker” Walker (19-2-2, 12 KOs) vs. “Iron” Orphius Waite (5-0, 3 KOs) was postponed due to Walker being hospitalized in a Chicago hospital shortly before the “Tinley Park Rumble” Event..

“Obviously I want to wish Michael a quick and speedy recovery, but thanks to another incredible job by my chief matchmaker John Winfred, this was an explosive and exciting card that the fans enjoyed,” said Octavius James, C.E.O. of One In A Million Inc.

Ochoa vs. Davis was a back and forth battle that left both fighters with cuts and bruises, but it was Davis that left the ring with a nearly completely swollen shut eye. Davis tried to rally in the middle rounds and Ochoa would quickly snub out that effort with a flurry of his own bringing the crowd to their feet chanting ‘Eddie, Eddie, Eddie.’

Middleweight Josh Crouch (5-0, 5 KOs) entered the ring with Windy City Thunderbolts’ mascot Boomer and eventually delivered the boom on an extremely game Josh Rodriguez (4-8, 3 KOs) with a 3rd round TKO (1:50) in front of his beloved hometown crowd.

The always electric junior welterweight Angel Hernandez (13-3, 10 KOs) put on a show that kept the very vocal fans up on their feet and screaming with a six-round majority decision (57-57, 58-56, 59-55) over Guadalupe Diaz (5-5, 1 KOs).

In a slugfest, Mexico’s lightweight Jose Guzman (6-2, 5 KOs) got back to his winning ways by overcoming an early barrage of power punches from Mokena’s Bobby Jaskierny (3-2, 2 KOs) and would win by 4th round TKO (1:02) after rocking Jaskierny in the corner.

Chicago Height’s junior middleweight Meegal Harper (2-0, 2 KOs) stayed unbeaten when he pounded and eventually knocked out Kansas’ Scott Wilson (1-1, 1 KOs) in the 1st round (2:14).

“Merciless” Mary McGee was given an overwhelming standing ovation as she raised all her titles into the air at the center of the ring as she made her first public appearance since successfully defending her NABC Lightweight and WBC International Super Lightweight world title by winning in dramatic fashion a 10-round war against WBF Super Lightweight champion Kristy “Rose” Follmar.

Octavius James’ One In A Million Inc. will return to the ring when the WBC International Super Lightweight and NABC Lightweight world champion “Merciless” Mary McGee makes her triumph return to the ring along with Ed “2 Fast 2 Furious” Ochoa, Derrick “Superman” Findley, “The Fighting School Teacher” Jimmy Holmes and Marcus Thompkins at “Fight Night: Where Champions Are Born;” the location and date to be announced soon.

Battle at the Boat 72 June 20, 2009 7:00 P.M Emerald Queen Casino – LINTON VS. IKEKE

Tacoma’s favorite boxer Emmett Linton (33-5-2) will put his career on the line against world title challenger Kingsley Ikeke (24-3) at the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle At The Boat 72. Be there on June 20th, 2009 to witness one of the most exciting fights of the year. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M, first fight starts at 7:00 P.M.
Linton-Ikeke will be an exciting fight from start to finish as it promises to be a fantastic 10 round main event. Ikeke is no stranger to Northwest boxing fans, as he knocked Kenny Ellis out of world title contention at the Battle of Boat 22, in 2003. At the time, Ellis was ranked 3rd in the world by the WBO when he fought Ikeke for the NABO, NABF and NABA titles. Ellis was stopped due to severe cut on the bridge of his nose in the 6th round. “There’s definitely a reason that Kingsley’s nickname is Sharpe Knuckles,” said promoter Brian Halquist. “Kenny was poised to fight for the WBO world title with a win over Ikeke but it just wasn’t meant to be. It was heartbreaking to watch,” Halquist continued.

“Linton-Ikeke is a great fight. The winner will be in line for a major fight down the road. There is so much riding on the line for both of these fighters. I expect both fighters to bring there absolute A game. Its situations like these that make for incredible fights. This fight will be a Northwest Classic!” Halquist said.
Both fighters signed for the fight months ago and have been in training camp ever since.

The Undercard will also be featuring some great local prospects:
Portland’s Kevin Hand (3-0, 2 KO’s) VS Billy Bailey (9-3-1) fighting out of Bakersfield, California in a 6 round semi-main event bout.
Karen Bagmanyan (Pro Debut) VS Portland’s Eric Orozco (Pro-Debut)

Cestus Fighters on the rise in the Summer Heat!

Cestus Management has a busy summer planned for its young talent laden stable of prospects which will see its fighters engage in action through the months of June, July and August.

The summer program kicked off in brutal fashion as this past Friday, June 12, 2009 , the “Barbarian” Jairo Martinez entertained the sold-out crowd in Laredo , Texas , at the Laredo Civic Center . Martinez (132 pounds) took on tough Laredo native Eddie Ramirez (132 pounds) in a four round match. The obligatory opening “feel out round” was nonexistent as Ramirez came out with his guns blazing attempting to discourage the “Barbarian”. This tact would not only prove ineffective, but very costly for the Laredo fighter as Martinez withstood the opening onslaught and responded with some heavy artillery of his own. The last thirty-seconds of the opening round were a sign of things to come as Jairo backed Ramirez into the ropes and unloaded merciless shots to both his (Ramirez) head and body. The remaining three rounds were a vicious display of barbaric behavior as Martinez constantly backed Ramirez up and punished him with a horrific leather assault that brought the crown in attendance to frenzy. In the end, Jairo “Barbarian” Martinez improved to 3-0 with a unanimous decision victory.

The summer boxing program will continue this coming Friday, June 19, also in Laredo , as Cestus Management will feature two more of its top prospects as Robert “Nighthawk” Luna Jr and Rodolfo “Cobrita” Gomez are fighting in separate bouts on the undercard of an ESPN FNF promoted by Banner Promotions.

The fighters will keep the summer heat rolling as on mid to late July , the quartet of Rodolfo Gomez, Robert Luna Jr., Jairo Martinez, and former Amateur sensation Hector Ramos leads the team on the undercard on a televised boxing event that which will be held in Laredo and shown on Mexican TV. Closing out the month of July, Super-Middlweight terror Donovan George, who is promoted by the Seminole Warriors Boxing, will be featured on the undercard of an ESPN FNF boxing event which is sure to be electric. The month of August is in the process of being secured, where the entire Cestus stable will be fighting on dates in different boxing events in the United States .

Gina Iacavou, the company’ CEO , said, “We are excited about our summer programe as our fighters will showcase just the type of talent that we are known to develop. Our stable is young and strong and everyone is showing the development and progress needed to become outstanding professional fighters that will move into the next levels in the not distant future”

Mike Michael, who is the company, said, “Our experience and expertise in the business has allowed our team to find and sign young talented fighters that have limitless potential. When a stable holds a flamboyant brutal power puncher in Donovan George; a vicious offensive fighter in Jairo Martinez; a relentless battering ram in Robert Luna Jr.; an amazing flawless technical fighter in Hector Ramos, and a six foot three inch welterweight destroyer in Rodolfo Gomez, there are no boundaries.” Michael continued, “We would like to say thank you to the Seminole Warriors Boxing (Leon Magules), Banner Promotions (Art Pelulo, “KO” 1 Entertainment (Ignacio “Nacho” Huizar) and Gente Entertainment (Anthony Velasquez) for their support. So is lock the doors and run for cover!” its gong to be a long hot summer.
