News: Arreola, Walker Quotes; Chicago Boxing; Maloney Gatecrashes Dublin

Los Angeles, CA (November 26, 2008) – On Saturday, November 29, undefeated Cristobal “The Nightmare” Arreola will defend his WBC Continental Americas title against Travis “Freight Train” Walker on the first-ever professional boxing card to be held at the new state-of-the-art Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The bout is scheduled to air on HBO’s “Boxing After Dark” preceding the main event, 2-time WBO Welterweight Champion Paul “The Punisher” Williams vs. 3-time World Champion Verno Phillips.

Following are quotes from Cristobal Arreola and Travis Walker:

CRISTOBAL ARREOLA:

“Travis Walker is a true contender. He didn’t come to my hometown to lay down, I know that I have a fight on my hands.”

“He got under my skin by saying that I have never fought any legitimate heavyweights. Every opponent that I have taken on such as Derek Berry, Thomas Hayes, Cliff Couser, Chazz Witherspoon and Israel Garcia were legit heavyweights and he’s failing to recognize that – and it gave me the incentive to train even harder.”

“I am going to get in the ring and fight my fight. I really don’t have much more to say other than I’m done talking and going to make the rest of my statements in the ring on Saturday night.”

TRAVIS WALKER:

“I am motivated and I have worked my hardest in training camp. As a result, i have the best camp experience ever.”

“The motivation came from me being treated like the underdog. I am done being treated like I am the under dog because in truth, I am not. I am the real deal. You’ll know it too come Saturday.”

“I am standing true to my word – I will be the Champion because I have earned it. I’m gonna be Arreola’s worst nightmare.”

Maloney Gatecrashes Dublin With Sutherland, Munroe

On Thursday night, December 18, Irish fight fans will see a fireworks show at the Helix in Dublin as promoter Frank Maloney hits town packing some of the best and brightest of his burgeoning stable of fighters.

Flashy European super bantamweight champion Rendall Munroe leads the pack as he puts the Continental crown on the line against steel-jawed opponent Fabrizio Trotta.

A potential 2009 super fight has been rumoured between Munroe and former European beltholder Bernard Dunne, who calls Dublin home, and the bad feeling between the two camps has been building but Munroe can’t afford to take his eye off Trotta, the Italian titlist who challenged for the European Union strap in June.

Commonwealth welter kingpin Craig Watson has a good title defense scheduled against Adnan Amar, who has strung together ten straight victories, including an English title winning performance in May over previously undefeated Mark Lloyd.

Another Commonwealth champion is on the bill as bantamweight titlist Jason Booth defends against big hearted southpaw Sean Hughes.

Former British and Commonwealth light middleweight champion Jamie Moore will make an appearance against an opponent yet to be determined as he warms up for his upcoming European title clash with ex-world welterweight champ Michele Piccirillo and 2008 Irish Olympic Bronze Medallist Darren Sutherland makes his hotly anticipated professional debut.

Bantamweight Martin Power, also a former British Champion, will begin his comeback in Dublin and undefeated Cork middleweight Gary O’Sullivan will be looking to build upon an already promising career.

Frank Maloney Promotions presents “Out To Conquer The World” headlined by the debut of Irish Olympic Bronze Medallist Darren Sutherland and European Super Bantamweight Champion Rendall Munroe’s title defense against Italian Champion Fabricio Trotta on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland.

Tickets, priced at €50, €60 and €100, are available by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office on 0871 226 1508.
Sky Sports will televise the action live on SS1 starting at 8PM.
