Nelson states, “Dimitrov has said that ‘We do not have other viable options’ for the WBA heavyweight title in Zurich on December 20th. That’s nonsense! There’s a list of 15 ranked contenders by the WBA to choose from, and one, Minto, is not only a free agent but is also well known in Germany and the U.S..”
Unranked by the WBA, Holyfield, and now 46 years old, has not won a fight in nearly a year and a half. In fact, he’s 4-4 over the last 6 years, whereas Minto is 32-2 over the same stretch. “In my opinion, ever since these giant Russians watched Rocky IV, their biggest fear is being knocked out by a left hook from an undersized white heavyweight from Pennsylvania.” ” What if Holyfield falls out? The co-feature is an evenly matched crossroads welterweight local turf war between Atlantic City’s Shamone Alvarez and former Olympic bronze medalist, Terrence Cauthen of nearby Trenton, New Jersey.
Alvarez is 19-1 with eleven knockouts, itching to get back in the win column after suffering his first pro loss to eventual IBF Welterweight champion Joshua Clottey last December in Las Vegas
Cauthen resurrected career this past July when he scored an emphatic unanimous decision over then undefeated (16-0) Alexis Camacho in San Antonio, Texas. Cauthen has a very impressive record of 33-4 with nine knockouts.
With a lot at stake, expect both combatants to leave everything in the ring.
Despite his recent loss to Johnson, Seldon will be in the ring tonight to once again hoping to thrill his hometown fans when the former WBA heavyweight champion takes on upset-minded Brad Gregory of Wichita, Kansas.
This is a must win fight for Seldon who boasts a respective record of 38-7 with thirty-four knockouts, considering a victory could very well lead to a significant match against former champion Lamon Brewster later in the month.
Another featured participant is New York’s KO artist, Curtis “Showtime” Stevens looking to check the chin of Ray Smith of Arkansas.

YORK, PA (November 7, 2008) Chet Koerner’s TKO BOXING Promotions announced a fundraising partnership today in York , PA with the Easter Seals’ Central Pennsylvania office as part of “THE BATTLE AT YORK ” professional boxing series.
A press conference was held Friday afternoon at the Valencia Ballroom with a kickoff donation of $2,500 made to the Easter Seals by TKO BOXING Promotions. On hand were local boxers Carney Bowman and Stevie Weimer along with members of the Easter Seals Central, PA. office and the TKO BOXING team.
Saturday night TKO BOXING Promotions presents “THE BATTLE AT YORK II” at York’s Valencia Ballroom featuring Bowman and Weimer in separate bouts.
“We’re very proud to work with the York , Pennsylvania ’s Easter Seals Office. Our plan is to bring world class professional boxing to the York area four times next year and we will be working continually with the Easter Seals office to raise funds for their great work” said Chet Koerner of TKO BOXING Promotions.
