News: The Returns Of Glen Johnson, Edison Miranda and James McGirt Jr / Jamaal ‘Da Truth’ Davis

HOLLYWOOD, FL, September 25 – It’s a trio of excellence – a former world champion, a top contender, and a star on the rise. On Tuesday, November 11th, these three boxing stalwarts – Glen Johnson, Edison Miranda, and James McGirt Jr. – will step into the ring at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida to show the world once again what happens when the bad boys of boxing put the gloves on..

“THE BAD BOYS OF BOXING” is a night of world-class professional boxing presented by Seminole Warriors Boxing & DiBella Entertainment. Tickets for this event, priced at $152, $102, $52, and $22, will go on sale on Friday, September 26th and may be purchased at Hard Rock Live Box Office or TicketMaster.com.

The remainder of the card will be announced shortly.

A former light heavyweight champion revered throughout the sport as ‘The Road Warrior’, Glen Johnson (47-12-2, 32 KOs) has built a storied career on the foundations of hard work, skill, and heart. Owner of wins over the best of this era, including Roy Jones Jr. and Antonio Tarver, Johnson will be returning to the ring for the first time since his controversial decision loss at the hands of WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson in April. Now, more determined than ever, the 39-year old Miami native is intent on bringing his own judges – his fists – to the Hard Rock on November 11th.

Consistently one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, pound for pound, super middleweight contender Edison ‘Pantera’ Miranda (30-3, 26 KOs) is on the comeback trail after a disappointing loss to Arthur Abraham in their June rematch. But getting on the road back is no problem for the Colombian knockout artist, who already owns the leading candidate for knockout of the year in his third round demolition of David Banks. This November, Miranda plans on adding another segment to his highlight reel.

Rising middleweight star James McGirt Jr. (19-1, 9 KOs) may be the son of legendary former champion Buddy McGirt, but the 25-year old from Vero Beach has started to carve out his own niche in the boxing world with performances like his last one – a dominant ten round decision win over solid contender Raymond Joval on July 25th. Now closing in on the top ten in the world McGirt needs to keep the momentum going with a win on November 11th.

Jamaal ‘Da Truth’ Davis – Fired Up and Spitting Nails – Ready for October Fight.

Popular Philadelphia middleweight, Jamaal ‘Da Truth’ Davis 7-4 (6KOs), has been training hard at the James Shuler Memorial Gym to prepare for his return to the ring at the National Guard Armory, Philadelphia on Saturday 4th October against fellow local boy, Chris Hall 3-4-1(2KOs).

This will be Jamaal’s first fight since his controversial loss to New Jersey’s Richard Pierson at the Hard Rock Cafe, NYC earlier this year. Davis was just 81 seconds from certain victory when the referee stepped in to stop the fight after a cut received during an accidental clash of heads two rounds earlier re-opened.

Davis, who is trained by the highly respected coach Sharron Baker, clearly has no intention of leaving anything to chance as over the past weeks he has enlisted Gee Culmer 15-1 (3KOs), Rock Allen 13-0 (7KOs), Astaim ‘BabyMan’ Bagley 1-0 and fellow ‘fightcard’ mate on the 4th September, Simon ‘Slick Fighting Irish’ O’Donnell 6-1 (3KOs), as sparring partners.

The sparring sessions have been particularly intense affairs, not the usual workouts at all. Jamaal is so fired up that he goes in hard and fast, not to be outdone each of his partners ‘step it up’ in response. It seems unbelievable that at the end of each session that the two combatants are still such good friends.

After one particularly tough sparring session with Astaim ‘BabyMan’ Bagley, Jamaal explained “There’s no hard feelings, they know I want it full on. I’d rather fight every month, always ring ready but that just doesn’t happen.”

“I know what I need to do. I want to fight now. I’m ready.”

As Davis headed off to destroy yet another heavybag, Sharron Baker, Jamaal’s coach chipped in proudly “He’s kicking ass and spitting nails.”

Headlining the Philadelphia Worldwide promoted event will be former world junior middleweight champion Kassim ‘The Dream’ Ouma, 25-5-1 (15 KOs) against Martinus ‘Magnificent’ Clay 13-18-4 (5KOs) from Wilson, North Carolina

The co-features are junior middleweight James Moore, 16-1 (10 KOS), a native of County Wicklow who fights out of New York, and middleweight Simon ‘Slick Fighting Irish’ O’Donnell, 6-1 (3 KOS), a native of County Galway who fights out of Philadelphia.
