Sampson Lewkowicz: WBA Matchmaker Of The Year

Genius won’t escape the trained eyes. And once recognized worldwide, genius gets itched in the immortal stones of history. International matchmaker nonpareil Sampson “Picasso” Lewkowicz will join on Wednesday the lines of great men in boxing history to be recognized by the prestigious World Boxing Association (WBA) in time for its Annual Directory Meeting and Awards dinner scheduled on July 2 at the Panamericano Buenos Aires Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.. Lewkowicz will receive the Matchmaker of the Year Award in recognition for his exemplary contributions to the sports of professional world boxing.

A true warrior of the sports who calls his wards and friends “my family,” Lewkowicz make a name as one the most reliable matchmaker who delivers what he promised. In a career spanning over two decades, he was reputed for his unassailable sense of fair play and a dependable honesty in his dealings with boxers and business associates. He is the kind who cannot set aside principles for money.

“I have five world champions,” Lewkowicz answered John Martinez in an interview for Boxing Realm in Mar 2007, “and I keep them as a result of loyalty, honesty, hardwork and respect. I am proud to say that I have never been betrayed by any of my partners or fighters.” He has fathered such marquee pugilists as WBO heavyweight champion Sultan Ibragimov and WBA junior featherweight boss Celestino Caballero.

“I bring blood to boxing, period. I find people that the States haven’t heard of…and make them significant,” Lewkowicz concluded. Sure enough, he is known to pit fighters who can rock the ring to the crowd’s breathless amazement.

“Sampson very much deserved the recognition as the WBA’s Matchmaker of the Year. And we at ALA Promotions and ALA Gym congratulate him for such a record of masterful performance to-date,” said ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer.
