12.04.08 – At the Scales: Trish Kilcullen, Photos by Peter Mark Heintzelman: Richie Cappiello does it again, with an exciting fight card full of great matches from top to bottom, scheduled for Saturday Night at the Roxy, in downtown Boston. The Massachusetts Boxing Commission weighed the combatants in at the Holiday Inn, in Randolph, Massachusetts on Friday night, and the scales tipped as follows: Main Event: Eight Rounds Featherweight: Dat “Be Dat” Nguyen, Vero Beach, 11-1, 6 KO’s, 124 lbs v. Robert DaLuz, Providence, Rhode Island, 10-10-2, 9 KO’s, 124 ½ lbs..
Robert DaLuz spoke to EastSideBoxing before the weigh in:
EastSideBoxing: How long you’ve been a boxer?
DaLuz: About eight years.
EastSideBoxing: When did find out about your bout tomorrow night with Dat Nguyen?
DaLuz: I’ve known about this fight about a month and a half ago. We’ve been looking at him for a while now.
EastSideBoxing: You’re right down the hill from Boston, yet Nguyen has fought a lot in New England. So, who’s the hometown boy for Saturday night’s fights?
DaLuz: I’m always the hometown boy, but he’s the hometown promoter’s boxer, so we all know what that’s about!
EastSideBoxing: What have you seen of Dat Nguyen’s fight style
DaLuz: His fight style, he comes straight ahead, and he just punches, he’s a banger. And Matt Remillard’s a little more fundamentally sound. As far as Dat goes, he’s susceptible to my offense, and I have a killer offense. I’m a boxer and a puncher, I can move, I can counter, I can do all that, and I can definitely hit, so it’s going to be an exciting night.
EastSideBoxing: Do you have a prediction as to the fight’s outcome?
DaLuz: Well, of course, you know that! From what I’ve seen of him, he leaves himself open, and I’m a hard hitter, and I know what I have to do. As to a knockout, there is a good possibility, and it depends on the individuals willingness to accept punishment. Bottom line!

Twenty nine year old Osbourne took a few minutes before the weigh in, to speak to EastSideBoxing.com:
EastSideBoxing: When was your last fight?
Osbourne: Last month, I fought Caleb Truax in his hometown (Maplewood, Minnesota). It was a four round fight, in his home town, and he won, by decision. It was a war, but I didn’t give up, I went at it, and when I left, they knew my name.
EastSideBoxing: How long have you been in boxing.
Osbourne: I’ve been in boxing all my life. My Dad, Jeff Osbourne, had about 200 amateur bouts, and I just wanted to follow in his footsteps. His boxing coach, was Burt Miscone, and he named me after him, and that was the route that I was on, and I end up marrying my Dad’s boxing coaches’ great grand daughter.
EastSideBoxing: When did you get notice of this fight against Edwin Rodriguez?
Osbourne: I got a phone call from my manager, Andy Morse, asking me if I wanted to take it. So I looked Rodriguez up on the computer, on boxrec.com, and seen he won the golden gloves a couple of times. But, I’m not scared – – I’ll take on anybody. I have a lot of respect for the guy, he’s a good boxer.
EastSideBoxing: What do you know of Rodriguez fight style, and what do you expect?
Osbourne: I know his style is pretty slick, and I don’t think he can set the pace. So, I will set the pace, and see if he can take it. I can box, I do better to go in there, and taking what he’s got, and giving him what I’ve got – – that’s just how I am.
EastSideBoxing: Do you feel you are fighting in his backyard?
Osbourne: It makes me nervous but that’s the way it is.
EastSideBoxing: Do you have any predictions for your fight?
Osbourne: Pain!
