Tyrone Brunson Targeting World KO Record

Undefeated middleweight sensation Tyrone Brunson will once again bring the dynamite when the hammer-fisted 22 year old returns to the ring in “Do Or Die”, a Settles Entertainment promoted boxing card at the Chez Paree Club in the Omaha, Nebraska suburb of Carter Lake, Iowa on Saturday, October 13, 2007..

The Philadelphia based gunslinger broke the 102 year old American record of consecutive first round knockouts by destroying David Johnson this past March for his 15th straight first round finish.

Three months later in New Zealand, Brunson tied the World record holder of consecutive first round knockouts, current WBA super featherweight champion Edwin Valero, by annihilating seasoned veteran Jamie Waru in a hail of leather at the Sky City Casino in Auckland for his 18th straight first round finish.

Now Brunson returns to the US, determined to carve his name into the record books with another spectacular showing when he enters the ring at the historic Chez Paree Club.

“We’re committed to bringing high quality, entertaining fights to the public,” said promoter Craig Settles, of Settles Entertainment.

“We’re proud to have Tyrone Brunson going for the world record on our promotion. He’s such a great puncher and fierce competitor with so much potential.”

Brunson’s glittering resume of 18 first round knockouts in as many pro fights could lead some to believe that the Philadelphian is a one dimensional slugger, but don’t tell that to Edward B. Mendy, prominent Tax Attorney and chief of Lion Heart Boxing, Brunson’s backer.

“This kid can obviously really punch, but he also has exceptionally fast hands and fantastic defensive skills,” said Mendy. “Tyrone went 82-11 in the amateurs and was a junior champion. He’s not just another puncher; he can box and is incredibly accurate.”

It’s a dramatic moment for Brunson but Mendy believes that it’s just the beginning for the star of his promotional stable. “Although none of Tyrone’s pro fights have gone past a single round, he’s got amazing stamina; I’ve seen him spar 21 rounds straight through,” he said.

Joining Brunson on the bill at Chez Paree on October 13 will be ex-IBF Cruiserweight champion “King” Arthur Williams, undefeated junior middleweight and former Golden Gloves winner Tony Hirsch along with unbeaten welterweight knockout artist Joaquin Marquez.

Settles Entertainment presents “Do Or Die”, an exciting night of boxing headlined by Tyrone Brunson and Arthur Williams, supported by a full undercard, at the Chez Paree Club, located at 1313 Locust Street, in Carter Lake, Iowa on Saturday, October 13.
