Quiles-Campbell on March 2 – ESPN2

HOLLYWOOD, FL, February 20 – Careers may be on the line on Friday, March 2, when veteran contenders Ricky Quiles and Nate Campbell battle it out in a 12 round IBF lightweight title elimination bout at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, Florida, that will not only determine who will face the winner of Saturday’s championship bout between Jesus Chavez and Julio Diaz, but who will keep his spot among the elite at 135 pounds..

“This is a high stakes fight between two fighters who know that everything is on the line on March 2nd,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing. “I expect both guys to give their all because a win here puts them a step closer to doing what they’ve dreamed of their entire careers – winning a world championship.”

Quiles vs Campbell headlines an exciting night of boxing presented by Seminole Warriors Boxing and Star Fight Promotions. The bout will be televised live on ESPN2’s Friday Nights, beginning at 8:00pm ET / 5:00pm PT.

Southpaw Ricky ‘Showtime’ Quiles (39-7-3, 8 KOs) is closing in on his 18th year as a professional boxer, yet at 36, he still believes the best is yet to come. Winner of six of his last seven bouts, Quiles resurrected his career after various layoffs and became an inspiration to boxing fans as he shot back up the ranks and became a respected contender in the 135-pound weight class. And though he would lose a hard fought decision to Julio Diaz in May of 2006, Quiles’ slick boxing skills and Spartan work ethic ensures that he will be ready for battle on March 2nd and ready to move to the next level in his career.

A hard-hitting boxer/puncher known as ‘The Galaxxy Warrior’, Jacksonville, Florida’s Nate Campbell (29-5-1, 24 KOs) has come perilously close to a world championship several times over the years but has just fallen short of glory. One of the sport’s most entertaining fighters, the 34-year old Campbell first burst on the scene in 2003 when he lost a controversial decision to future champion Joel Casamayor. Campbell would roar back with some impressive wins, but would get stopped by Robbie Peden in his lone title shot in 2005. And though Campbell has had his ups and downs, wins over highly touted Kid Diamond (TKO 10) and Matt Zegan (W12) have put him back at the top of the rankings, and only one win away from a dream fight for the title.

Also featured on the night’s line up are up-and-coming local Tampa Bay prospects such as Derrick Samuels, Ashandi Gibbs and Carlos Rivera.

Ticket prices are $80, $75, $70, $45, $35 and $20. Tickets for this exciting night of boxing are available at all Ticket Master Outlets or the Star Fight Offices at (813) 876-9269
