Fehintola Vows To Light Up British Champ Johanneson

03.11.06 – A hotly anticipated battle of super featherweights takes place tonight at the Metrodome in Barnsley, England and twenty four year old challenger Femi Fehintola has unshakeable confidence that his silky skills will see him to the British title now held in the iron grip of Leeds based hardman Carl Johanneson..

“Carl looked really good in winning the title but I know how to beat him,” said Fehintola. “He’s strong and fit as a butcher’s dog, but to fight me, he fights in the wrong style and I know for that for a fact having gotten the better of him in sparring.”

Johanneson, 24-2 (17), matriculated in the boxing rings of America for the first three years of his career before returning to his native England in 2004 but Fehintola isn’t awed at all by the ferocious style of the British Champion, “What Carl does is great, but there’s no variation,” assessed the challenger. “He comes in straight lines; I’ll pick him off and gradually take him apart.”

Some observers see Fehintola, 14-0 (1), as too green to possibly see off the more seasoned Johanneson but don’t tell that to the Bradford based challenger. “People are looking at my record and saying I’m the underdog but I’ll rise to the occasion,” said Fehintola. “I represented my country as an amateur and will love getting back on the big stage. I’m looking to impose my will and he’ll be surprised by my power, just like he was when we sparred.”
