Jesse Feliciano to Fight Rafael Ortiz for NWBA Title October 1!

28.09.05 – Exciting Junior Welterweight Jesse Feliciano, returns to action this Saturday, October 1st at the Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, Washington. Feliciano (12-4-2) will be challenging tough Rafael Ortiz (11-7, 11 KO’s) for the NWBA (Northwest Boxing Association) title in what promises to be 10 rounds of non-stop action.

“I’ve got the best trainer out there, “said Feliciano, referring to his new trainer Jesse Reid. “I’m confident everything will go well and that I’ll get back in the scene, back on the map.”

Regarding his progress under the tutelage of Reid, “I’ve been shortening my punches and putting my punches together, better,” added Feliciano. According to advisor Patrick Doljanin, “This is a good test for Jesse. We want to see him apply in the ring, what he’s been learning in the gym. I am very impressed with the changes Jesse Reid has made with him.”

As far as the future, Team Feliciano is not looking past Ortiz. “Ortiz is a rough and tough guy and you can’t look past him,” said co-advisor, Albert Falcon. “There’s no hurry with Jesse. He’s young, an exciting fighter and fight fans love him.”

“The fact is, he’s fought better competition than Paula Malignaggi, Dimitry Salita, Kendall Holt and Demetrius Hopkins…COMBINED! Jesse Reid will insure “El Rayo” becomes a more polished fighter,” added Doljanin.

Regarding future opponents, Feliciano said, “I’m looking forward to getting this belt and getting bigger fights against guys like Donald Camarena and Dimitry Salita.”

Saturday’s seven-bout card is promoted by the legendary Bennie Georgino. Georgino, a member of the Boxing Hall of Fame, who managed three world champions: Danny “Little Red” Lopez, Alberto Davila and Jaime Garza.

“It’s an honor to work with Bennie,” said Doljanin. “He called me and said he had an opportunity for us,” (Regarding the Ortiz fight). “Bennie’s a gentleman, a class act and we are honored to be working with him. “
