04.09.05 – Chicago boxing promoter and former professional boxer, Bobby Hitz, will be hosting a four-hour time slot this Sunday on WSCR 670-AM radio, The Score. “I’m actually auditioning for a full time slot on the station,” said an enthusiastic Hitz. “Hopefully, I’ll make a good enough impression to get a permanent position.”
Undaunted by the pressure, Hitz is taking it all in stride. “I’ve got a partner (Mark Vasco) who I’ll be working with and a producer to keep things moving. Hey, it’s a four-hour show and I can’t talk for four hours. If it were up to me, we’d take phone calls the entire show,” Hitz joked.
Naturally, boxing will be discussed, but Hitz plans to broach all sports. “I want variety, so we’ll be talking about the Bears, the Sox and their playoff chances as well as the Cubs,” commented Hitz.
Scheduled guests include: former Heavyweight Champ, George Foreman, Jesse Reid – trainer of Heavyweight Champion Lamon Brewster, Shaun Gayle and Otis Wilson of the 1985 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears and former child star turned radio personality, Danny Bonaduce.
Commenting on others who’ve tested the radio waters in Chicago with boxing talk shows, Hitz said there’s a big difference with Sunday’s show. “First, we’re talking about a 50,000 watt power house with The Score. I’m not brokering time on a sun-up-to-sun-down suburban station. This is taking it to the next level,” opined Hitz.
